Freeride World Tour 2025 - Discussion Thread

BallClapperExited to see what the Tiemo kid has in the bag. Got dub 10 on lock, don't know if we will see it in Baqueria but some of the other venues for sure can accommodate such shenanigans. (the fat windlip in verbier could deff support such a stunt if hit with enough beans.)

brownetownTiemo is such a dawg, everyone should go watch his run from the nendaz bc invite. He’s crazy. Marcus, Simon, Martin and Ross also have dub 10s in their bag, super curious if anyone puts one down this season. I imagine KH would be the venue for it, though you could maybe dub that Georgia feature too.

I think this is the year where cork sevs become the new left 3 no grab and there will be a field of riders pushing the envelope on the trick and flow direction and others like weitien going for unique line and amplitude.

I’m also curious to see how the judges respond to feedback from last year, I feel a lot of people disliked how they rewarded fall line jock skiing over progressive freestyle runs so hopefully they’ll start recognizing how crazy some of that stuff is.


oh, and maybe the announcers will finally be able to count to 7. Really hoping Sam smoothy and apoll run the show there, two of the funniest dudes in freeride imo

Ben_ShortSome huge crashes today, Ross taking home the win, I was shocked on some of the scores but though Ross put down the most solid run

KungKalmarSki men was a lot more enjoyable than I expected it to be. Better than last year. I feel like the venue was a bad choice.

Bitching about judging (part 1)

My boy Edvin Olsson was underscored. He sadly also underperformed but his score should have been mid to high 70s. Bottom half was too slow and hits were too small.

Toby was fucking robbed. He had everything in his run. Control, speed, style and flips. Ross' score was not wrong. Toby's run was just better.

abjectwoeTom & Mathys had the most gnarly falls. Mathys's face was fucked up and he was bleeding pretty bad.

When is the last time two Americans were on the podium? Been a minute.

Also can we talk about how fucking gnarly some of those crashes were today? I hope everyone's okay cause it's kind of concerning how quickly they announced Abel is a wildcard season. Hope no one had to drop out due to injury.

I thought Ross deserved it Toby's was a solid 2/3 place run. Ho badly underscored as always should have made the podium. Rainer went through the motions to not fall w/bad snow and probably scored a little too high. Aussie dude and the German had sick runs too.

abjectwoeI usually will watch all of ski mens and then just watch the heavy hitters in the ski womens category. There are literally only two snowboarders that ever do something interesting, so sometimes I watch their winning runs.

I'm not shitting on snowboarding. I think it's awesome, but FWT is not the format to showcase good snowboarding imho.

I'd be all for snowboarding getting axed. Could have more stops, a couple extra competitors, and much better snow quality.

I legitimately felt bad for ski women because by the time they went it was pure ice and rocks. I wouldn't have skied down that face in those conditions.

There are lots of really good and progressive female skiers, but lots of them don't want anything to do with FWT. Like Manon Loschi and Addison Rafford competed one year and didn't want to come back.

I think with more events like Nendaz and now Natural Selection, you're going to see a lot of talent disperse.

je_t.aime_canardI think the best snowboard events are natural selection and x games knuckle huck, I’m just not a fan of the riders traversing heel side for 30 seconds, hitting
a cliff and then doing it all over again. There’s just not as much fluidity in their turns that makes free riding so unique

BigPurpleSkiSuityeah that was brutal to watch, 5 DNS out of a field of 12, and man some gnarly crashes. I think it's fairly obvious Justine is the strongest skier of all of them, but shoutout to Lily for that massive backflip

egirl.skiI think it’s obvious that eli is the best skier on the tour, she just overcompensated for punchy snow on the landing of the straight line to mando air.

Lily is sick too, they’re really pushing a more fun and unserious version of freeride that I love.

Chloe Hehir also was charging, so sad to see her bobble and lose a pole.

if everyone landed, my podium looks like, eli in 1st, Chloe in 2nd, and Justine in 3rd.

Astrid is gnarly too.

Astrid is my pick to win it all, but I could see Justine winning as Astrid is, generally speaking, going to be taking more risk.

We need to defund the annual pop-appeal ski films to get these women back into the FWT and boost the competition

Addison started her own thing Milk Box Girls (I think) and they put out a SICK film called con artist.

Manon just got rid of Peak Performance as a sponsor and went to MHW. I guess I could see her being in one of the big films.

SlushSeasonI honestly don't pay close enough attention to know who's in the films. But there are always 1-2 women in every big annual film who would do very well on the FWT. Hearing people like Angel Collinson talk about how much more lucrative and more conducive to a healthy lifestyle the film circuit is has convinced me that's where most of the best women skiers are going

abjectwoeVal Thorens is getting 2ft of snow and a ton of wind. Not sure what that's going to means for avy conditions, but if/when the comp goes off we could see some epic skiing.

I always enjoyed watching the entire comp but being able to skip in between runs to save some time but also for easy replays of parts of a run. Now they upload extended highlights, but thats not all the riders so no good comparisson of the entire comp.
