Keystone vs breck

General opinion on each. Was supposed to hit up Breck again this trip, but thinking about hitting up keystone instead. When I was at Breck last year a bunch of Locals said i needed to check out keystone.

Keystone and Breck’s parks have been completely gutted since the golden days. Breck has some fun terrain if you are looking for cliffs like the six senses. If you want vids look at the IFSA and FWQ vids of breck and key to see what the cliffs look like. Breck is the more touristy so you’ll fit right in. Keystone has some fun hike to terrain but it can be an hour long hike to get to the goods. For more touristy things to do go up imperial at Breck if it’s open (highest chairlift in US) and if you have any beginners with you schoolmarm at key is one of the longest green runs in the us. For non park laps 6 chair and the Tbar at Breck are fun as well. So basically if you are looking for more lift serviced terrain go to breck, if you have more beginners with you go to key.

I personally hate keystone. Even if you have beginners, go to breck. They got some of the most flat terrain out there on the lower mountain. Then need something wild? Go up high. Not to mention for being out west, keystone does a good job of maintaining a solid bit of ice on all of their runs. Vail, breck, and beaver creek are all way better.

Like the other guy mentioned, Breck is kinda flat until you get up high. Keystone does tend to keep ice in certain areas of high traffic. I enjoy both. They have different vibes. If you’re doing keystone, I suggest to go to Outback chair, Santiago chair or Bergman chair. Stay in that general area and enjoy the trees.

If you have a car, try them both. They’re not that far apart.

one thing that is crazy is the attention to detail on all the base lifts compared to the upper mountain ones at breck lol. both are great imo. can’t go wrong with either. keystone town/village is boring in comparison to breck town. also t-bar at the base of peak 8 goes bonkers with DJs and bottle service and shit. idk how it ended up evolving to that lol.

terrain both will be fun. vibe key is more low key these days. breck is more of party mountain for better and for worse.

what days are you going?? i would catch some laps with ya if you wanted (aside from the name thing im a nice guy, i swear 😆) im off sunday and monday and can ski at all CO resorts.

I highly doubt any locals recommended checking out Keystone. It's often times referred to as "The ski area across the street from the dump" and I'll shit on it any chance I get. That being said, there's plenty of good terrain there and I'm sure you'll have fun wherever you go. Also, you can't go wrong with a Lime happy hour night ski sesh.

Night skiing is probably the only good thing about keystone unless you love trees than you cant go wrong with the windows, but other than that, I can never feel connected to the place in a way. Only annoying thing with breck that was mentioned were how you feel like at some point or few times, you gotta go back to the base and those chairs can clog up.

They are both extremely average colorado resorts, if I has a choice I would go to Vail, Loveland, Abasin, beaver creek, winter park or even drive to steamboat before going to either of those places.

Doing beaver and vail already. Sat I have a black out date at both places so it’s either Breck or keystone. Likely doing keystone just to try something new.

I expect Breck to be insane on sat too crowd wise. Don’t expect keystone to be empty by any means but hope it wouldn’t be as bad as Breck.

ugh the thing I hate the most about Breck is how many fucking people are there lol I used to only go during Dew Tour and to this day ive never seen that many people at the bottom of a resort.

Its kind of how the place was designed tbh. I think the majority of people and their skillsets keep em on the lower mountain and all youve got are chairs running out of the base areas except for the far side peaks(10 & 6). At least when the 6 chair is open, it offers a good alternative to the tbar getting to imperial. I only like riding tbars by myself typically. Then ski the ridge to horseshoe bowl. as you said earlier though, for resorts on epic pass, I think overall vail might be a bit better. Huge place and even on the manmade groomers, for some reason, I think vail holds up a much better snow quality than a lot of places in Colorado. Granted I think its because the locals protested vails proposed snowmaking in the bowls which never happened. Even though its there, a lot of the older locals in vail hate snowmaking.
