Dying Boot Shells

Im sure lots of you guys have seen this boot dying process Eric Pollard put on his instagram a few years ago.
Just curious if anyone has actually tried this, and more importantly does it have any effect on the shell’s stiffness?

dyeing full tilts used to be a thing back in ns's golden era..similar to dyeing lacrosse heads the type of plastics dictates how well it will take the dye. Also not really sure how it impacts rigidity of plastic especially with the thinner, lighter boots nowadays.

if your boot is heat mold able like many are now a days i can’t imagine this is good for stiffness and all that

there’s a multi page thread on it here from a couple years back. search on google and you’ll probably find it. General idea was using hot water to soften the plastic and then applying Rit Dye for colour. As was mentioned though, you can only go darker than the current colour.

Holy shit those came out so sick!!!! I think i woulda used Blue dye on the red boots to try to get purple.

Lol, women’s boot came in purple. Funny it looks nearly identical.
