GoPro hate

People live to hate, just do whatever you want man.

GoPro footage is very sharp and cinematic looking which doesn’t match the aesthetic that most people want for their videos. The typical gopro wide angle looks like dogshit even compared to regular fisheyes. Its like you can see everything except the rider sometimes, even when they are in frame. And it uses digital zoom instead of optical zoom which suck.

TLDR: Its very limiting if you are trying to film for a legit edit with different angles etc and it has a “preppy” look to it. If you want POV footage, its the best thing in the world tho.

I understand that the vast majority of GoPro users are holiday skiers who think they can put together a cool edit when they can’t ski for shit and don’t know how to edit. But I see tons of cool shots and entire edits sometimes shot on gopro. It’s really convenient to use for people who ski sick lines in the backcountry and wanna film it easily. I kinda wanna get one just to film my backcountry shenanigans or family ski trips and put together a cool edit. What are the thoughts

My 12 lasts at least 1 full day of filming if not 2. Might need to get a fresh battery.

got nothing against the footage it's pretty easy to drop the framerate in settings so it doesn't look like a vlog clip. but the batteries they use are dogshit and after owning 2 different gopros that literally wouldn't work under 35F i'm done with them

GoPros don’t suck. Like all cameras it really comes back to the user. I don’t think anyone’s looked at a hotlaps clip and thought his footage sucked. Some people hate on the battery but in their new cameras they’ve pretty much solved it with the enduro battery. And the battery is small enough to carry extras if it is a problem.

There is no such thing as a camera that does everything. Gopro is the industry leader in the thing that it does, which is stable, high resolution, immersive point-of-view footage, in a portable and lightweight body. People who hate on Gopro either don't know how to use their camera correctly, or they want a different camera that does something else (which is fine, but if you genuinely appreciate cinematography, you should appreciate what Gopro enables that other cameras don't). The new enduro batteries last all day, they make a mount that charges your camera while you hold it, and you could put 10 extra batteries in your pockets and not notice the additional weight. There really isn't a valid reason to hate.

At least the pov is still good to watch, insta 360 cams are the most heinous thing to come out of the action cam industry. Absolute dog water to watch something filmed on one
