Best ski film from every era

All said and done i'm a fairly subpar park skier, thus i enjoy living vicariously through the edits and films of the world's best/most creative freeskiers. How would you divide the freeskiing eras, and from which era are the quintessential ski edits to culture myself on

I would add Yearbook to the list of great films from the mid 2000s. Forward was unreal as well. Dave Crichton's opener was so mind-blowing and just set the whole thing up.

The late 2000s were packed with hitters! Refresh is still my all time favorite but that was already mentioned. I don't think Level 1 ever quite recaptured that magic.
Every Day is a Saturday was super sick. The vibe of that whole film is just all about fun, plus we started to see how rad you can get in pow once the skis caught up to the ambition of the skiers.
IDEA was a novel concept and you could argue it laid the groundwork for a lot of more modern films - small crew skiing together all the time, traveling around getting shots over the course of a season. It a less of a patchwork film than many that came before it.
Pretty Good also deserves a mention. The number of younger, up-and-coming skiers in that film that went on to dominate the 2010s is pretty wild.

For the early 2010s, Revolver was a banger. It was one of the first films to have really really high production value, plus the lineup was just insane.

I'm old so I can't remember any ski movies post 2015

Quoting because I agreed with everything else besides the most recent one and I slotted in Magma because ameture slush backcountry content is on the up and that was the first time i ever saw a full video dedicated to slush booters and bsckcountry jibs (Shoutout Chef, Variance, OS, etc.)!

I don't think Stand Corrected changed the game (despite being an incredible video) but i do think the return of team videos did because since Daycare we got another ON3P team video, a Movement team video, and allegedly an Armada team video in the works which I don't actually believe is happening anymore but you never know! I guess vishnu has kinda been doing team videos and obviously Jet has been working on one but I think the bigger companies getting back into team vids is more influential than a core company fulfilling their promise to the sport (love you Emmett).

Teddy Bear Crisis was like life changing for me in terms of how I viewed skiing. I don't think I've seen a film with that stacked of a roster since. Fantastic soundtrack, era defining shots (Chad's gap, etc), one of Jon's best segments (where he actually hit some rails and boxes, if I recall correctly).



Few Words kinda spanned several eras, but also is essential viewing

For sure. I think in terms for that era, everyone was on point and it seemed like a turning point. Being in my late 20s I didn’t discover that until 14 or 15 but it always brings a nostalgia vibe.

Yo appreciate the love. we were actually filming with Juice and the variance boys in Tahoe. Highly recommend watching both of their videos if anyone hasn't yet. Magma was for sure a big inspiration, they really set the bar high. I also remember being inspired by some of the builds/tricks in the West coast sessions videos (Gavin's video in particular.)

I'd add 13 - Poor Boyz and Forward - Level 1 to that list for early adopters of the sport.

Everyday Is A Saturday changed the game on BC doubles. Durtschi's segment was the first time we saw modern doubles mid-line and off natural features, not just booters

Only thing I would add to the list is Ibergs IDEA from 07. I feel like that had such an influence on skiiers of generation (im 37).

I remember searching from ski shop to ski shop through Mammoth to try and find a DVD copy of that when it came out. People weren't doing a ton of online buying of ski movies at that point. such a great movie- still listen to the soundtrack CD that came with it on a regular basis
