I Made a Mistake...

Went from drop kick pros that were too big to atomic hawx ultra xtd 130 boas. (they were 25% off)
I've been to the boot fitter twice and they seem to know their stuff. (Control room whistler)

Went skiing, and bam, backseat.
I can put forward pressure on groomed stuff, but anything chunky or bumpy, backseat.
Is there hope?
It feel like as soon as I put a hard pressure forwards, I get thrown back at the turns apex.

I'm hoping it's forward lean, needing spoilers, or a technique issue. I see mixed reviews around stiff boots for skiers who struggle to flex them.

Do you guys like stiff boots for jibbing, park, and cliffs?

Not saying this is for sure it, but a data point to consider: 3 piece boots like full Tilts have a different flex pattern than Overlap boots like those Atomics.

An overlap boot has a progressive flex while a 3 piece boot has a linear flex. Progressive means the boot starts out softer and gets stiffer the more you flex it. Linear means the boot starts with one feel and pretty much stays that way the more you flex it. A perfectly fitting progressive flex in theory would help with bump and chatter absorption, so you may just need to get used to the flex.

If the boot man put you in 130s, never hurts to try to get used to the flex, the stiffness, and hit the gym.

Anecdotally since 3 and 2 piece boots flex so differently it can be a big adjustment in your muscle memory to get used to them. Give it some time, no harm in trying spoilers or getting your bootfitter to check your ankle dorsiflexion and put in a heel lift.

Put in a spoiler or adjust the forward lean a bit if possible. I enjoy quite stiff boots, but if you ride soft skis it’s easy to overpower the skis a lot. I ride lange xt3 in 120 and typically ride soft skis like wet 183. Feels a bit overpowering but not too bad. Other way around is worse tho.
