hallo everyone i'm trying to stomp that damn backflip 180 (flair or rodeo idk what to call it) every time i go out with my homies to try and build a bc jump we are all too retarded to craft it the lip either jank it takes to long or we cant get the snow to stay together all the dudes in the ski movies uses like blocks of snow how the hell do they do that ik your supposed to build it on a hill so most the work is done for you any one that can bless me with some knowledge lmk it would be much appreciated
Cut cubes approx an avy shovel width or two wide from a nice deep harvest pit a little bit below and off to the side of where your jump will be (can’t let it get in the shot ya know). Relocate snow cubes onto jump and don’t forget to build up your transition. Pack with hands and shovels until it can hold your weight then step it out with skis on, adding more snow as needed. Step up to the top of the lip and slide down on edge to get that nice finish and make sure to square off the walls so your sexy jump doesn’t look like it was built by mouthbreathing snowboarders. Profit
They pack bags of de-icing salt if the moisture content of the snow is too low, they also roll with a huge crew so there is a lot of help with labor. I don’t know how things are other places but I knew of like 4 or 5 “spots” that were known locations for booters and crews that didn’t even know each other would just randomly keep them up or collaborate to build wedges or slip in runs.
Honestly a good option to start with is finding a location woth good terrain. A natural dip and then an up and breakover like a jump knuckle. This will make the jump ride bogger with way less time and snow and gove you a good landing.
Also can cut a lip into the sode of the hill so you're pulling snow from the higj sode to widen the low side.
Def depends on snowpack where you're at. Out west cutting blocks is the move but idk east coast.
The big builds in movies can be done over multiple days with a crew of people.
If you have a good spot that wont get torn down maybe chip away at it a little at at a time.

Good thread posted above. Basically pile snow and compress it. Cubes are more efficient to move snow but I have not had a ton of success with them holding together. You will know it's ready to hit when you can stand on the jump without skis on and it doesn't sink past your ankles. Make sure the transition won't flex your skis too much
I use these plastic storage boxes that are about 1.5 feet long, 1 foot wide and 1 foot deep, super light to carry, and the ones I use taper to the bottom a little (kinda like a trapezoid shape) which makes them really strong plus you can stack multiple of them if you got a crew. Also make sure to stagger the cubes like a brick wall, that way there is no easy path for a crack to form
I really havent built many bc jumps in years but thats what we always looked for. Cutting something into a windlip type face or find a nice up. Can adjust the transition a bit but you basically just have to build the top. Maybe lazy, maybe we never had enough people or both. But a big wedge take time and a good crew. There's really no way around it.
Consistent radius. No one likes a double lip. My buddies and I made a decent booter in like 30 minutes using the snowball method with like 6 inches of fresh snow on the ground. This method works best if it's not too cold so the snow will stick to itself. We did some more shaping to the lip before hitting it but you get the idea. Also stepping your takeoff and riding up it will help smooth out the transition.
