Back protection?

Would either soft or hard back protection help with preventing me fuck up my herniated disc even further if i end up scorpioning? Or am i cooked either way :/

alot of bigmountain guys wear then are you actually need one for u-18-15 big mountain comps

oakley makes a really good one for 200 but poc has one for 150 (usd)

I just got one for this year from atomic, haven’t skied with it yet but I think it’s worth esp if you are coming from an injury. Don’t get a hard one they are super uncomfortable and hot, the soft ones are good enough and way more breathable. Sweet protection also makes a good soft one id look at

SHRED makes some decent ones for not too much. Bought a blue one from them last season and it has been a lifesaver for underrotations and eating shit on rails. Feels a bit weird at first but once you get used to it you dont really notice it, I would cop if i were you.

Back protectors only really protect your back when you land on it. Not gonna do much when you scorpion, or when you take big impacts through your feet and up your spine (which I assume would make a herniated disc worse). Still deffo worth having though incase u land on it back on a rail or rocks or smth

I have a shred one and I really like it. I don't use it all that often but it's nice to have when I know I'm gonna be sending it. It's also super low profile.
