Hestra Army Leather GORE-TEX 3-finger?

Looking at getting some of the Hestra Army Leather GTX (three finger) for this ski season, and hopefully many more seasons to come. Any thoughts on it? Also, in terms of maintenance, is it machine washable. How often should I balm the leather?

Can't beat Hestra. Worth every penny and no, you don't wash leather..
The balm I use like once or twice a season to keep the leather conditioned and waterproof.
They'll last you many seasons and you won't be disappointed.

i have the 3 finger hestra army leather. Idk if they are the goretex ones, but they are the best gloves ever. apply the waterproof balm on the leather. yes they will get wet, they are still warm when wet, I ride them park, and no rips, I have the biggest size that they sell, wish they made bigger, glove fits way too big, but I just like big gloves.

basically yes worth it. mine have the big thing that goes over your jacket and synces, they are massive, but are perfect

Hestras are best out in my expreience. Use leather balmevery once in a while, i use hestra beeswax. i have washed mine once every season, but i do it by hand in a tub, i use a mild detergent and just soak it for 10 mins and rinse them well after. I have gotten rashes from not washing my mittens before, so it could be a smart move.

Ohhh, yeah never had the removable liner ones. If you can remove the liner then ueah remove the liner and wash that separate. Probably smart to give the inside of the mitten a wash either way, as i have experienced mold in mittens before

I have two pairs of hestras. The fall line mitt and Seth Morrison pro's... I typically ski about 100 days, and rotate gloves depending on the weather and/or how damp the insides get the day before. I think this is my sixth season and they both look great. They both get a re-wax about once or twice a season once the leather starts to look dry and become brittle. I've tried both the hestra balm and nikwax leather conditioner. When you do this, try to let the product sit 24-48 hours to get the best results... The hestra balm is probably slightly better, but nikwax does fine too....
I would 100% purchase both pairs again. They look better with age and keep my hands as warm as any glove I've tried.

You seem way overly concerned with washing your gloves bro no offense. What are you doing skiing that your gloves get that dirty that often ?
And washing leather highly not recommended.

idk im just worried that the gloves will smell like shit, or i will clean them wrong and ruin them

I'll wipe the exterior off with a damp rag or soft brush if I get them grimey but I haven't laundered them or anything. The insides don't smell.

I have spring gloves too so my hands aren't sweating a ton in them. If you're getting the army leathers you'll want a cheap pair of spring gloves too. I have some cheap halfpipe gloves for when the temps creep towards 50F
