idk. out of collective has one in for testing. Think it's legit. Though my big issue is it uses air shocks instead of coil. Coil is less affected by temperature, has better sensitivity and will provide more grip. But I legitimately have no clue as to what this is supposed to achieve. It's fucking stupid.
It’s so dumb. A critical part of skiing is being able to feel direct and ‘instantaneous’ feedback from your skis. That’s why everyone sizes down boots.
This decouples your boots/feet from the skis. Thus feedback will be delayed and have a component of hysteresis from the shocks.
Very real. They’ve been testing them off for a little over a year now and are currently getting into the hands of non company testers. Tgr and ski talk has been keeping up to date with everything about them.
to mount them youre going to be way outside of manufacture recommendations. so void all warranty for that and mount on a much thinner piece of the ski with added weight on to it. genius.
also gonna need some sort of special brake as the binding is higher and now the skis got extra weight.
poles will have to be longer for the extra height. also, that extra height is going to result in harder slams for jerr bear.
loss of maneuverability with the shocks will probably lead to people accidentally holding their edge longer and preventing them from hockey stopping therefore continuing momentum into an unwanted direction. collisions with objects and others are gonna be higher
this will give jerr bear false confidence that he has equipment that can handle a huck that is actually an ability gap. the loss of responsiveness will mean that you’re committed regardless
say peace out to your acl. if you land back seat, your going to need extra pressure now to catch yourself upright.
your gonna be a dweeb and stand out like a sore thumb being too tall and bouncy. then people are gonna notice its because you’re a massive pussy who needs suspension to ski. its okay though. no one will see the tears through your ruroc as you walk back to your cybertruck.
i typically like innovation but im a certified hater on this one.
This product will make money for the same reason Ruroc helmets did, rich kooks just want something that they think looks cool and will make them stand out.
4:30 of video for 2 seconds of jerry skiing them. There's no way this is a good idea for all the reasons listed above, and also backslap would be heinous with these. Worse than pivots, and the ACL issue would be for real too.
Alright, went down a rabbit hole with these guys. The 3 people who run the 'company' are from Indianapolis, 2 of them come from race car driving, one from 'Marketing and entertainment for race car driving. Of the 3, only one of them claims to ski much, Jarrod as 'resident ski bum' despite living in Indianapolis for the length of his linkedin profile dating back to 2000. Ken Nichols was a race car driver and economics major.
Nick Foster Jr never skied according to their website on the 'about' page and I doubt they have much of any idea of the safety issues something like this could cause, namely the backseat fall rebound issue to murder ACLs, and the higher stack height, less control over your tips causing more crashes, anything like that. They're essentially just stilts with MTB suspension designed by 3 people who don't ski very much and for whatever reason, decided to make this product thinking their mechanical knowledge would make it all fine.
I'd be genuinely scared to try these at all if they were designed by ski industry people, let alone these guys who clearly don't know shit from fuck when it comes to skiing.

Right because people who’ve actually skied them don’t know better than your Jerry ass opinions who haven’t.
BigPurpleSkiSuit
and I guess you can't message them to talk shit on em either, let's see if I can get agro in their comments cause this product deserves to die.
Talking shit on a product you’ve never used. Based.

To provide additional context. Shane Krisiloff's dad, Steve was married to the former daughter of Mari Holman George who was the chairperson of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Honestly, the fact that Wayne Wong tried it with leaf springs and isn't using them today speaks more to the idea of this in the first place than anything else.
