jimbobsCross sectional area at the voile strap is like 1/4th of the two vertical sections. According to my eyeballed FEA seems like you have a significantly weaker spot right there, could be worth beefing it up relative to the rest of the profile. If you give me more context of how this thing attaches and holds your skis I'll try and needle your design some more. I just don't exactly know what I'm looking at lol.
Cotter pins on a string are cheap af, and pretty handy for a little extra peace of mind without crazy extra work. Just browsing McMaster, ball detent pins get pretty pricey pretty quick.
LippamaniLooks like a waste if wall space I did this
oldmanskiI think it looks good and the uhmw should flex or break before your skis get trashed.
CallMeAlYou’ll need to somehow secure it to the side of the tunnel like the ski doo model that this appears to be based off of. It’ll slap around on whoops and eventually break the linq brackets if you dont.
could be
Thegenericskierthis is very neat, jealous of your access to a vf5ss
ajbskiFrom the bottom of the horseshoe to the bottom of the bracket is 1”. The slot is 1/4”.
0.75h x 1w = 0.75sqin
tgr verticals are 1x1… 1sqin. Not 1/4
the upper loops are for my duffel straps
im hoping with the interference fit there will be enough tension to keep them locked in. The brp one use a ball detent because the fasteners have 1/8” play in the for plates to go under.
jimbobsGood enough for me, carry on. pi is 3, e is 3, g is 10, as they say.
Are you planning on using that low profile nut? You could try a tall locknut for more security.
ThegenericskierIf you want then anodized I know a guy who could do it for cheap as long as you want them blue or purple (I’m the guy)
