Where do I get a cushy work from home job?

Try to find things related to "Data Annotation". We have a number of fully remote roles like this where essentially you're the human brain training computer models and AI what to look for.

Certainly not lucrative or a long term option, but might help pay the bills for a bit and most roles are WFH?

Being an accountant pretty much always guarantees you a job and my last job was entirely remote (which i hated).

There were plenty of adults in my accounting classes. I'ts not the most exciting job but it could always be worse.

The whole job market is sorta weird right now but there are opportunities doing drafting remotely for a bunch of different industries. Telecomm, interior/exterior design, oil, public sector etc.

Lots of engineering or engineering adjacent positions.

Lots of placing are willing to train since every company and their mother is making their own proprietary software now, but it's not a terrible idea to get familiar with some of the more common software suites. Our company still has on our listings that we want ACAD, Microstation and Esri but half our team almost exclusively uses proprietary junk and the others are really just a suggestion.

Depending on the industry it's a little to a lot more interesting than just plugging in numbers all day and something you could make a career out of.

As a bit of warning though. While remote work has some great parts ya gotta be careful. Unless you're super introverted you gotta force yourself to socialize. Humans get a lot of socialization, bad or good, at work. Going 40hrs a week talking to anyone or interacting with people in person can fuck with your head. It's fine if you're good about doing stuff after work but if you live in a really remote area stuff can start to suck pretty quick.

Get into Sales Force, whatever the hell that is

Yeah learn autocad and draft those jobs can never hire. All will take someone experienced remote and its sink or swim if you produce you'll be left alone and just have to meet deadlines.

I did some sick ass AutoCAD training system that let me collect UI for another 6 months right before pandemic. Ended up getting the sales job I wanted before having to use it.

You might want to do it in person for a couple of years. I just breezed through the modules and didn't retain shit.

I should specify that AI could probably do part of my job but there are a lot of decisions made in the field that aren't black and white like people may think. IE: capitalizing certain costs, amortizing / depreciating items through different methods, prepaying certain expenses... keeping items on the Balance sheet or releasing to the P&L... etc.

People are all so wrapped up in AI automation but I think most aspects of accounting will take decades for AI to be able to do and even then it will still need to be audited by real accountants. Just like today accounting needs to be audited by a third party to verify legitimacy.

I see accounting / Finance as a very safe career and certainly one that can be done remotely.

I work as a SCADA specialist/engineer for a third party provider. My boss is in Europe, my co-workers are spread out across the world. The only time I see an office is quarterly trips overseas for some face time with my manager and the rest of the team. Before This I worked for a renewable energy OEM in the same capacity and had not seen the inside of an office consistently since COVID. Nothing I work on is in the office anyways. It's all remote equipment on wind farms.

I want to make a point of distinction though: always try to work for a CLIENT of Salesforce, not salesforce itself. Working at salesforce would not be my cup of tea (and they’re 5 days in office now).

full remote kinda sucks tbh. hybrid is where it's at, ideally 2 days in office 3 days at home. also im not sure why salesforce is being mentioned, i worked there fully remote, sucked balls but I made a ton of money. that said, if you're asking this question big tech probably isnt in the cards for you. look for a 50-200 person company customer success job. doesnt have to be in tech though thats most common, its also the hardest to land a role in rn. hiring for tech these days is a total shit show.

Salesforce consulting and integration sounds fucking awful. My company rotates through IT guys and we have a new one up to the plate and nothing has happened getting our data and shit into Hubspot. Lots of churn and burn but I doubt anyone good in tech is being cut loose unless they are ridiculously overpaid or never answer their phone/emails?

Crazy how big an industry it is. I dated some basic boring bitch that lived at her computer and was how proud she worked for some company that did salesforce integration/consulting. It was honestly pathetic.

Good outside travel sales jobs are unsupervised and come with plenty of free time. Just get anything like this and have some industry knowledge of what you want to sell and you'll be set.

Yeah! During my onboarding at current company, there was a workday admin. Then it clicked “oh yeah, they would have admins too”. Service now is another.

Another week of nothing from our IT guy and the Hubspot consultant. Our IT guy only works M-W lol so every week is Thanksgiving week for him.

I feel bad because I'm tasked as being the primary user and our big trade shows were in October we met hundreds of people I sort of need to coordinate that all into the CRM. Not why they chose me the only North American employee but its fine once shits up and running I can bang out a few hundred contacts add missing accounts etc after the implementation.

Deff a tough market, but also keep in mind that December is probably the hardest time to find a new job. Most companies are doing or finishing their budget planning and the most open roles typically get posted in Q1. Good luck brother.

The dumbest kid I knew from HS is somehow a government accountant. Works from home 5 days a week. Is constantly sending me pictures of him on Vaca or at the casino... I'm all for the DOGE crew cleaning up the waste.
