realassboatProbably gonna head up to be super poor and live in my truck and try to ski as much as possible, both resort and backcountry, and since my poverty lifestyle of a baked bean diet doesn’t entice a lot of my friends, looks like I’ll be trooping it mostly alone. Between the BC resorts (excluding whistler area), what’s got the best balance of skiing to also potentially being able to find chillers to ski with?
micsinthetreescome to whistler my man, i’ll be there living in my car too
dylansiggersBoth are simalar and great
Fernie skiing is more playful and chill, all the jumps are like cattracks and snow bumps and shit, its fun as hell. Decent town life, concerts and parties on the weekends and weird little kareokee nights and shit during the week.
Revelstoke skiing is way more gnarly, more access to insane shit too. In bounds revy has really sick cliff things and actual real life pillows if you go into Greely Bowl.
Do both, ski Golden too. and also goto Nelson and ski Whitewater. Tour in Kootenay Pass, and goto Lake Louise if your still around in the spring
I love whistler, but if you just wanna ski and do canada things dont bother going to Whis
BenchhitterYooooo go to whitewater in Nelson you’ll never want to leave. Incredible snow, the best ever. funky town, in the middle of nowhere, super hesh. Really the boonies. you’ll fit in living in a car many do
fernie cool but I’d trip out to revy over it any day. Revy is the greatest. Pow days at revy make up a disproportionate number of my favourite moments on this earth. only whitewater beats the snow, but Revys got the vert. Amazing terrain and love the town. You can camp in the resort parking lot if you check in with the hotel. There are many wild spots too. Ioverlander app. Ykfgo. Check out Rogers pass if you tour.
kicking horse in golden has crazy terrain. One of the coolest resorts out there. super worth a visit to experience it. but same owners as fernie, so it’s expensive.
im in Rockies, Banff Natl park is really hard to camp free in. Lake Louise is cool and you can sleep in the overflow parking lot. if you’re still around in the spring Sunshine Spring Pass is pretty dope, can’t compare it to hood spring pass vibe wise, it’s spensive and again hard to camp, but lots of terrain to rip usually, and it goes as long usually too.
avoid Whistler imo. Thankfully the Sea To Sky is all downhill so you can coast your car back down to Van to find a can of soup for less than 5$ when you inevitably run out of money. That’s all the nice things I have to say about Whistler
BenchhitterI just realized you tour and you already know the Whistler vibes. My bad
rogers pass must do, super high concentration of really good lines and great snow. In the middle of golden and revy, so you can base either
banff area is my spot, greatest concentration of type 2 mountaineering with skis bullshit out there. If you want aesthetic and technical lines, we got the goods. Not for everyone tho.
kicking Horse (golden) and revy both have great side country off the resort and some sick backcountry as well.
