I'm located in SoCal and live about 1 -1:30 hrs from the nearest resort. There used to be about 6 ski shops here in the 80's, but most have closed shop. Unfortunately, the shops here cater towards the casual skier/snowboarder because that is the overwhelming majority of our customer base. Most of our customers don't care for a good tune, let alone knowing what one looks/ feels like. There is really only one shop in my area that does good work and has a tech that knows what he is talking about. We also have a real lack of knowledgable bootfitters here.
I would love to hear your thoughts, frustrations, and suggestions if you live in an area with the main shop being something like REI or Sports Basement. I want to be able to provide the services that skiers on newschoolers need. Suggestions on what you would want to see on the retail side would help too!
FYI, get your knees ready for the season boys; implement some routines from Kneesovertoesguy.
May you all be blessed
