Let’s get the hype rolling! New ski designs from Volkl and line so far that I’ve seen. Yes as discussed in the old 24/25 thread there is a brand new boot entering the market from armada! It’s unlike anything else that’s out there. Exciting times in the industry for sure!
onenerdykidBode hasn't been associated with Atomic since about 2007. The boots in the picture are literally old rear-entry boots he bought off Ebay.
I saw that pic floating around - it looks like he has a fake bootie covering whatever boot he's actually wearing. Like the foot warmer wrap, but plastic..?

it’s an old Salomon SX rear entry. Here’s a better pic:
Look pivot 2.0’s only from Next season on is being reported. 11/13 15/15. 11’s will have a unique toe. 13 will have the current 12/14 toe. 15/18 same as current. 130 brakes coming for the 2.0.
I got the chance to try all the new boots on today. There are some great products out there. Overwhelming takeaway if you don’t like boa you are not going to like ski boots moving forward

I’ve tried a few pairs of boa and none of them seem to fit my feet as well as conventional boots. Sad if this is the way most boots are going.

did you try Armadas?
Well next season basically every boot is available in boa so you will for sure find one I’m sure. Pretty good conscientious too that lower adds comfort upper adds performance.
I did try the armada. It’s an interesting boot for sure. Did not fit my high instep though. But I do think they will do well

Don't worry - along with BOAs galore, there will be some hard-hitting buckle boots coming your way. Just stay tuned.

I‘ve been testing Phaenoms and they are awesome. I doubt they will integrate BOA anytime soon. So maybe check out Phaenoms

Considering look has been selling the same raw gold and Rasta colors for this long I seriously doubt the 2.0 change is coming that quick

Yeah the race boots are all still buckle if that is what you are after (some even had a new color and gripwalk) but actually I think the interesting one is the Nordica speedmachine 130S. I did not really get that boot at first, it’s a boa cuff and buckle lower, but talking to some people it does make a bit more sense.
Basically everyone I spoke to had skied a dual boa boot at this point and everyone basically agreed boa on the cuff does perform better than buckles. There was one person who was not fully sold (interesting he skied the same boot as the only other person I know who is not sold yet so I think it’s more the boot they skied) but other than that everyone really like how boa on the cuff is performing. But there were a few people still not convinced boa on the lower shell offers much. They all were people in high end performance fits so I could half understand it.
So the Nordica is basically catering to these people. It gives the performance increase of boa cuff but buckles on the lower for those who do not want boa. It’s going to be a small niche but it’s good to have these niche products in the market.
tomPietrowskiThe other cool thing I saw was the new Tyrolia hybrid freeride binding. Not seen that anywhere yet but it’s a cool take on hybrid bindings.

How is boa on the cuff performing better than buckles there?
snormanHow is boa on the cuff performing better than buckles there?
The general consensus seems to be that the way it wraps and the way the single cable can regulate pressure through the entire cuff allows for better transfer of power. Some people thought it added some comfort too.

So essentially is better in the same way the lower shell boa is better than buckles?
sicbithIf doesn’t really work if you want to run the upper cuff buckles at different pressures.
That is actually why it works so well. It’s a single cable which self actuates through the flex of the cuff. So as you flex forward the upper guide will slightly move first which will tighten the lower slightly which is what most people tend to set there buckles to do. As you rebound back up the pressures regulate. So you can have a much more even pressure on the whole shin through the whole flex of the cuff.
Nearly all our testers worried they would not be able to set the cuff as they wanted as most said they tighten the lower cuff buckle much more than the top but all found that the boa cuff negates the need to do this.

Sort of in as much as it wraps better but the big thing with cuff is that it eliminates the two static tension buckles and replaces them with a system which changes tensions constantly while the cuff is flexed. For the most part lower boa does not really improve performance which is why some people are not yet fully sold on it. It’s hard to explain but luckily it’s easy to feel when you ski it.

Not the experience I had, but certainly everyone has a different shape to their lower leg. Upper cuff boa certainly makes more sense than the lower shell though.
Been riding the new Blank for the past couple of weeks. Tails are much stiffer as that's what the FWT guys wanted. Should see an announcement of the revamped QST line around January 14th. Skied the QST 94, 100 and new 106 too, all of them felt like an improvement to the current offerings. Very stoked on the new Blank tho

For sure all legs are different and some people may have specific fit needs which need more work than just skiing a boot out of the box.
