Let’s get the hype rolling! New ski designs from Volkl and line so far that I’ve seen. Yes as discussed in the old 24/25 thread there is a brand new boot entering the market from armada! It’s unlike anything else that’s out there. Exciting times in the industry for sure!
Got my Cortex 120's in yesterday.
Couldn't be more stoked. These were everything I was hoping they'd be for my LV feet. Albeit, a bitch to put on, once I did have my feet in them, I spent the next 4 hours hot lapping and didn't want to take em off. The sensation of the double boa is actually quite nice with the way it evenly flexes and wraps the foot. They're definitely some burly thangs, meant for hard charging. Besides throwing in my custom insoles this is the best out of the box fit i've ever had in a pair - very performance orientated, yet somehow the boa really does make it so they somehow feel more comfortable than other pairs in the league. Coming out of Dalbello Il moros w/ Zipfit Garas, im pleased to be just as happy with these new boots and their stock liner. The liner comes with a removable tongue that attaches via velcro. Curious to more info on how this was meant to function? @tomPietrowski Also, noticed they came with two 2mm shims which can be placed under the footbed. - Would you say most people should throw these in, or just in the case that we need to fill more volume?

Plenty of these skis only look good in lineup photos posted here then once you see them irl the individual graphics looks so god damn mid and basic by themselves
The only real difference will be the power strap which if you are really concerned you can switch out for a booster. The liner is not the same either but that is done to help achieve the lower flex. I will say we won’t offer the boa cuff at this flex as buckles work better at lower flex’s. So if you do want the boa cuff you can get the 120 and then modify the lower shell to soften it. We included lines on the shell where to cut it to soften it to a 110.
a_pla5tic_bagI'm light, no matter how hard I ski I don't need a 130+ flex boot and they generally gives less premium features on softer versions of boots.

Interesting. Now, if shops started carrying 24.5s then I'd be in business.
The new Cortex is pretty sensitive to temperature and after a full first day of skiing it I can say I am a fan. I’m 6’1 230 and was nervous the 130 would be too soft. Once the boot got out of the boot bag and into the cold they stiffened up and had a great flex. Super damp and I personally love the wrap of the upper cuff with the boa. The stock strap is awful and I swapped to ol reliable. Skiing that tomorrow to figure it out a bit more. So far I’m quite happy.

I've got no idea what to do with the removable liner tongue. Did you throw in the shims included in the box?
DensecloudsWould still love to hear more about the removable tongue and shims as mentioned above
sorry got distracted by other questions.
So the tongue adjustability is so you can position it to best fit the instep and shin. There really is no right or wrong way to do this it’s what feels best to you. Try adjusting it slightly forward or backwards and feel what you like the best.
As for the volume reducers only use those if you want to take up a bit of space and make the boots feel more snug.
Coming from a krypton 130, hesitate between cortex 140 and 130, any recommandations/similarities with the krypton ?
Also i want tech insert so.... I hope the 140 will not be too stiff
Thanks for your answer

extremejuAlso just for curiosity why you have not put a wrap liner in the cortex as in the mindbender 140?
If you want the tech toe go for the 140. You can always modify the lower shell to soften it if you need. If you open up the cuff you will see we added lines showing where to cut to soften the lower shell by roughly 10 flex points.
As for a wrap in the 140 honestly we did not have the capacity to develop a new lv wrap liner yet. K2 boots is currently 5 people believe it or not so we are pretty limited in what we can do every year.
Ok thanks, i hope i'll like it more than my old krypton that i love for the moment 😁

Saw a place that has stock of the new Rossignol Sender Free 100 in stock and inquired about dimensions and if there was no metal underfoot based on the drill bit guidelines.
They confirmed the lack of metal with the 3.5mm bit rec and it has a 20 meter radius in the 184cm length with dimensions of 131/100/123mm. So it’s very similar to the 184 SF 110 specs minus 10mm all around.
Person who mounted these said "still has the air tip and same core construction but looses the metal under foot. its still solid for a 100mm under foot. i've skied it a few times and i think the contruction is perfect for a 649 ski. i think of this as the bent 100 killer"
Heard a weight as well on the 184cm Sender Free 100 of 2.1kg each as the shop put a pair on the scale. That’s a hair heavier than the 182cm Blackops 98 which are usually just over 2kg each.
Might have something to do with being longer and wider. (just barely) Though that is interesting given there is no metal.

Don_KedicAny word on a depart 2.0? Or just a new depart for this year?
Sorry to hijack your comment but are the departs actually good? Every time I see a pair I can’t help but think that they look weird, and not in a good way. I can’t think of a specific use for them. Kinda just look mid for everything. Would love to hear what people have to say.
JAHBRADORMaybe my original comment was too negative.
what are they like?

I think you skepticism seems reasonable, the BBR tip and weird tail, mid-fat width but super short radius, and the referee top sheet...I don't see the appeal.

It is not a BBR tip.... If you don't see the appeal then great, move on to the next. It's a rad swerve ski and it's worth a try.
For everyone else, only thing new about it is they're introducing a 188cm size. Also, the new Blank is friggin sick, as well as the new QST 100, skis like a skinny Blank.

The ski definitely takes some getting used to, but I love them. They are super fun on jumps, I'm not the best rail skier but but I can definitely do what what I was able to do on my previous skis(nomad 95). I'm using them on the east coast and as long as there is a little snow and not a complete sheet of ice they really hold up as an all mountain ski. looking forward to taking them out west this March

Thanks for not getting butthurt and actually sharing how you feel. Appreciate it.
For anyone wanting to really make these boots tight this liner is working well. We have them aftermarket and it was an MV last so adding to cortex makes for a ultra snug fit. Its the PowerWrap BOA liner
