Let’s get the hype rolling! New ski designs from Volkl and line so far that I’ve seen. Yes as discussed in the old 24/25 thread there is a brand new boot entering the market from armada! It’s unlike anything else that’s out there. Exciting times in the industry for sure!
abjectwoeYup that's the new one. In here is also the new optic 96 -- same kind of graphic but green.
I've heard the optics are more durable after the first two years (when the optics were green/black and then orange). Can anyone verify that?
I've put my current model year 104 through the ringer and so far it's been great, even one instance where I figured I blew it up and didn't. Such a good ski
tomPietrowskiShell volume in the lower is the same in all models. We built the cuff in such a way that the height can be adjusted by a spoiler. We did not just want to cut down and flare a women’s cuff as many women do not need or want this so we instead built the cuff in such a way that any model can be set up however the user wants.
The last in a 25.5 will be 94-96mm and the heel is very low volume.
These honestly look sweet. I am currently in an atomic hawx ultra 130 and feel like I could use a more precise fit. Do you think the 130 cortex would be a comparable flex?

I've tried it on in store so not super accurate but it felt a bit stiffer. Also tricky to compare though since the boa on the cuff changes how the flex feels a little bit, is more progressive flex. The boot is a chonker. It also comes with k2's powerblock thing on the front of the cuff which you can remove to make it a little bit softer.
Most brands use their race boots for trickle down tech to their regular consumer all mountain boots, and I feel like k2 will use this boot to serve that role, so it is a burly freeride ripper. That being said it felt a bit stiffer than the hawx ultra, but with a more progressive flex. I think this boot is going to be awesome.

Yeah I think this is a good assessment. The cortex is going to be closer to the Redster cs then the ultra. I would think if you have an ultra 130 you may actually prefer the 120. But give them a try if you can!

Is the shell still able to be heat molded to the same extent as the recon boots are?

No if uou want changes making to the shell you will be best working with a boot fitter to do more traditional boot fitting. You could try to heat the shell but with the plastic being so thick compared to recon you won’t get the same results.

That's what I gathered from trying it on, and hearing that the heel pocket is thick enough to grind down (i just haven't heard if the rest of the shell is). Would need to be a very specific fit for it, very excited to try and ski it one day - I tried the 26 but think the 25 would be a slightly better fit due to how lv my foot is.
Seems like a lot of the Boa boots are 100mm last, at least those new double boa salomon ones are. Is the expectation that boa will sort of make differences in last not matter so much, or will they make 98mm models as well?

Why does K2 use 96-98mm “last range”? The last of a boot is measured from the bottom, no? If the bottom of the contact points of the boot (each side where it hits the foot) is 98, it shouldn’t get smaller just because the top is tighter right? Am I tripping? Missing something?

The last is measured from the widest point of the forefoot which is roughly half way up the forefoot. The way we build the lower shell for boa allows for a pretty big range in this width so we give it a range rather than a single number. A few other brands are doing similar too now as boa does give more adjustment than we used to get.

It has more to do with the mechanical fact of the market: the 100mm category is the biggest in terms of business and sales. If a brand needs to invest a million Euros to do something, they want to make sure they prove it works/is accepted by the markets.
But for these brands, it is usually a first step. I would imagine you will see other last shapes once they establish success.
As of right now, only Atomic and K2 have narrow/LV boots with single & dual BOA.
SkiwaldAny specifics on the new SF100? Turn radius? Weight?
There was a post in here with some details, but no specifics. Supposedly no metal, so it will be softer flex which will be fine as long as it isn't too light/too soft.
SF110 in a 184cm is ~2200g and 20m radius.
I'd imagine the SF100 in a 184cm will be ~2000g and 19m radius. Though I'm hoping they beef up the wood since they're taking out the metal and it is closer to 2100g. Cool thing about the Revolt 96 in a 181... it's fricking 2100g. Totally different brand. Totally different ski. But a man can dream.
Also going to be cheaper than the sender soul, likely due to lack of metal. Don’t have a number, all the local shop would tell me.

Too bad Salomon doesn’t have a 98mm lasted, double-BOA boot yet, that might convince me to try BOA.
My S/Pro Alphas aren’t old enough to take the leap just yet, but hearing experiences with how well the double BOA works, especially around the shin/cuff, has me curious…

Nevermind, I saw that these are a 115 when I was in my mac and not my phone.

Ya then 130 on down.
if you really wanted something lv with double boa give the k2 Cortex a look
Evo pictures got heaps of info but still unknown if the new edollo91 has longer lenght than the 178cm samples seen around. Can you confirm if there’s a 184-188 range?
niklas123If someone needs info for the 25/26 Armada lineup, I have the cataloge at home.
