Casey@eheath i think enough is enough this is not appropriate
Aw so cute you have to call for eheath because you're scared of words.
HE SAID BITCH, BAN HIM. Bitch, I've been here for a long time, and moderation is what made NS die in the first place. Does NS not support freedom of speech? Do liberals not support freedom of expression? Oh, just another hypocrisy.
Sno.All good. I just won’t engage with him further.
so you're scared to engage me on the internet, but you don't think soldiers are scared to go and risk their lives? Sounds on brand for you. Send your husband.

189 hellbents with dub flatspins. Check your facts.
I talk a big game? What the fuck are you talking about? I want to end the war, how is that talking a big game? @Sno. and others are talking a big game being so "Pro-Ukraine" when they won't donate ANY of their money or go and fight.
I have other accounts that are older than yours btw.

BRO this is actually hilarious. Did you just flex being old on NS? I talk a bit game, then mention the size of my skis? Are you a real person? This is hilarious. @Sno. , as a feminst, as you offended because you clearly ski on 150's. LOL this thread is jokes.
Actually I’m resorting to memes because your jimmies are clearly rustled. You’re clearly angry. You need to chill out, man. And killing a thread by just fake news screaming at someone to go fight in Ukraine over and over again is super lame. The thread actually had some decent discussion and debate here and there. Now you’re just going to repeat screaming at me to move to Ukraine over and over again until I stop participating in the thread or something? Have a drink, chill the fuck out, and move on.
SSteezleResort to memes = embarrassed at one's self. Coming to terms with the facts. I am, a coward. But I will speak as if I'm a hero.

Fake news = trump wouldn't be elected.
Real new= trump was elected.
Real news = @Sno. Pro Ukraine fighting, but won't go fight because she has a family. Wants Ukranian fathers of kids to fight instead.
When in this thread did I ever mention feminism? When did I ever mention anti feminism. You went off your meds and started yelling at me to go fight in Ukraine so I brought up your secretary of defense not wanting women in combat. And? I just don’t know what point you’re trying to make. No one is flying to Ukraine tomorrow because you demand it. Do you think you can accept that and move on?

I just quoted myself... but yes, it was you that brought up women not being able to fight. I didn't know if you were a male or female, I'm not sure why you had a to be sexist and assume I'm a male!
.MASSHOLE.It's amazing that we, as Americans, seem to know what Ukraine wants better than they do.
If they all want to die for their country, so be it.
Considering this country was founded on the whole principle of being able to determine our own wants and needs, we'd understand this.
Guess not.
Exactly.
If they want to die for their country, so be it, but as an American I do not want to fund that. I want people dying to end. They elected Zelensky, and it's seeming they are now going to suffer the consequences of that, unless they hold another election.

So you care about life but not enough to prevent the loss of excess by giving them better weapons to protect themselves.
Ironic wouldn't you say?
We know Russia doesn't care about sending their men into a meat grinder. They will until they take all of Ukraine.
Why should Ukraine be forced to do the same to protect their homeland?
If you joined '5 years before me' are you a 35 year old that's saying this? I hope your husband (who is going to Ukraine to fight) is smarter than you.
SSteezleWe've given them weapons to 'protect themselves', how many people have died since we started that strategy? Seriously, answer it.
Why should USA fund this war? Seriously, answer it.
Not offensive weapons, no.
We've given anti-air missiles to protect cities, MRAPs and other support vehicles, shit tons of ammo (which was expiring anyway), and some anti-armor missiles. A lot of the weaponry (missiles and mortars) have strict stipulations on how they're to be used (mostly defensively).
We've stone-walled them on receiving F16s until European countries finally decided to provide them (which Biden was panned for doing). Even now, we've still neglected to send them the contractors who can help maintain them.
Again, we're not "funding" it. We're profiting off of it.
We're selling munitions that are going to be "expired", vehicles we no longer use, and paying US businesses (who employ US workers) to make other things for Ukraine.
Furthermore, a lot of the aid we're providing is under a lend-lease program, aka a loan.
I don't know why that is so hard to understand.
Do you have the same outrage over Israel and Gaza? I don't see that from the GOP or Trump supporters.

I mean not to make things personal, but if we are being personal about it...
Why aren't you with your kid? Why are you spending time making 50+ posts a day on NS sucking trumps toes instead of spending that time with your child? I mean, I don't have a kid or a family and even I'm not out here crashing out every day.
For such a shitty line of logic too. I think what's happening in Sudan is bad. Are you saying I can't think that without flying out to Sudan, losing my American citizenship, and picking up an ak74? I can't be pro-intelligent public health policy if I'm not a doctor?
You're big on the deportations and voted for Trump for his policy on it. Have you dropped your current life and what you're doing to get a job at ICE or CBP? Under your logic, you can't say you support anything that Trump is doing in regard to the border because you're not down there doing it yourself.
Who knows, maybe you are in ICE or CBP. Are you? Cuz if you're not you can't talk about the border.

Remember, @SSteezle celebrates the cut of programs that have led to the loss of life internationally. Programs not related to war. The care he pretends to have goes only as far as "owning the woke libs"
If Trump was actually a strong leader, he would be attacking Putin, the individual who started this war. Yet no criticism has been levied against Putin. If Trump really wanted to see "Peace" there would be a more serious deal provided than "you give us your minerals and we will say we hope nobody attacks you", a worse deal, but similar deal, that has been reneged upon by the Russians for the past 31 years.
And you know what? Fine. Cut all funding to Ukraine. Seems to be a poor option but fine.
What SSteezle conveniently ignores (because Trump is his daddy and can do no wrong) is that it isn't just pulling funding from Ukraine. It's pausing cyber warfare on Russia, it's getting rid of sanctions on Russia, it's giving Russia Ukrainian cities that they don't even hold, it's only being critical or levying action against allies, not Russia. It's voting with Russia at the UN.
All of these things go beyond just cutting funding and letting Ukraine figure it out. Which honestly at this point seems like the better option compared to trump's policies.
Every generation has its commie sympathizers who hate their own country and countrymen. There's one here.
Promises made promises kept right? Like ending the war on day one?
And since we are on the Ukraine topic, I’d like to remind everyone that trumps first impeachment was due to Donald Trump holding military aid from Ukraine unless they investigated and found dirt on his political opponent. The only person with a spine was Mitt Romney
SSteezleI just quoted myself... but yes, it was you that brought up women not being able to fight. I didn't know if you were a male or female, I'm not sure why you had a to be sexist and assume I'm a male!
SSteezle - "We get access to the land to profit off minerals, in exchange we have US on the ground to stop Russia from invading. What don't you understand?"
SSteezleOf course I'd want to understand the details, but also Trump doesn't want the USA to go to war. By offering a security guarantee, that is one step closer to us going to war. He wants to negotiate this in a way that people stop dying. What Biden has done clearly has not worked, he's trying a different approach, by being a mediator. Zelensky showed up and demanded a security guarantee. Guess what? Zelensky is in no position to demand anything. Ukraine is HIS country.
Reread both these posts from yourself and figure out what you are trying to say.

That is the defining characteristic of the MAGA cult. Facts don’t matter, the only binding principle is that Alex Jones is president and you better bow down to whatever he says on any given day
You're forgetting tarriffs which is how he thinks he can swing tax cuts & spending increases.
What spending increases are you talking about? I know he wants to cut the government so genuinely curious.
Sno.You’re really annoying. We’ve gone over time and time again that US troops are not being sent to Ukraine. Ukraine doesn’t even accept volunteers without military service of which I have none. It would make no sense for me to abandon my job, kids and family to fly to a country to fight as a solider when I am not one. Am I pro-Ally and pro-democracy over Russia? Yes. I’m sorry that you aren’t and that you’re a traitor to the U.S. but what can you do. If you want to end the war so badly why don’t you go and volunteer for Russia if you love Putin so much?
first off, it's straight up pathetic that you guys have been arguing in this thread for months
second, if you u think ukraine is a democracy you're a fucking retard and all credibility for what you say goes out the window. zelensky is a scumbag dictator, just as bad as putin. they ban opposition parties, non state media entities, the literal church. at least russia still has the church, more freedom than ukraine. they kidnap people and force them into the army. zelensky himself has very little support there. you're a tool and victim of propaganda.
Ukraine is a democratic state. They vote in their leaders. They’re not perfect, no, but they’re not fucking Russia. I’ve been in this thread for 6 days, not months. But isn’t that just standard playbook for a Trump supporter: some fake news, a dash of angst, throw in some insults, and ignorant outrage and then top with praise of Trump, the Church and Russia.
Anyone who still has “retard,” in their vocabulary is a blight on our society.

VTshredder69You're forgetting tarriffs which is how he thinks he can swing tax cuts & spending increases.

The estimated deficit increase is ~$2.8T.
Cuts:
Energy and Commerce - At least $880B.
Education and Workforce - At least $330B.
Agriculture - At least $230B.
Other - At least $562B
Increases:
Judiciary and Homeland Security - At least $200B. Suspected to be primarily border-related
Armed Services - At least $100B. Unclear where. Could be border involvement
Tax Cuts - $4.5T
So that's there that $2.8T deficit increase comes from.
And tariffs are seen as a regressive tax in that they cause people to purchase less, thereby decreasing sales taxes. And given that lower income households tend to pay a larger share of their earnings in taxes than higher income people (consumption as a share of income falls as incomes rise), you'll see lower tax revenues overall.
Tariffs will undoubtedly cause price increases, prices that get passed on to the consumer.
If the price of a product increases, ceteris paribus, consumption decreases. Basic economics 101.
And before you point to the tax cuts potentially reducing the consumer consumption burden thereby yielding a net-zero or even positive change, that is factored into almost ever analysis that examines this issue.

VTshredder69And if the price is too high it's thought to be made domestically at a cheaper price therefore increasing the GDP.
At least that's economic theory 101 as well. Not saying I agree with it.
Yeah that's econ 101 but it's assuming you have the capacity and capability to do so.
We have neither. And it won't happen overnight. It's unlikely to happen in the next 12 months.
Furthermore, I'm sure there's some game theory studies on this, many companies may be unwilling to invest in domestic manufacturing if a future administration roles back these tariffs.
TBH trying to do all this before midterm elections is basically impossible.

That is an absurd take if you value democracy at all. Stability in leadership while being invaded is important, but if you are doing a good job and the public agrees with you, there should be no issue getting reelected.
How can you justify dissolving political parties and news outlets?
Don't know how their constitution works in Ukraine but if that happened in the US I know I would be very against it.

So him punishing pro-Russian opposition as they’re literally at war w Russia is the same as running a violent dictatorship that looks to invade peaceful countries? Also, where is this concern for free elections for our own country? You can’t be GOP and pretend to care about voting rights.

“Article 83 of the Ukrainian Constitution states that if the term of the Verkhovna Rada expires under martial law, it shall automatically be extended until a new Rada is seated following the end of martial law. Article 19 of Ukraine’s martial law legislation forbids conducting national elections. Thus, for Ukraine to conduct elections while under martial law would be a violation of legal norms that predate Zelensky and the full-scale Russian invasion.”
Outside of the legal standing, in a war where a portion of your population is under occupation, and civilian infrastructure has been targeted by drone and missile strikes, how is one functionally supposed to run an election that is representative under those conditions? What does an election look like when drones or missiles hit polling locations?
The British suspended their general election during WW2, for some of these reasons.

Dissolving news outlets is not good. Point of it is to reduce Russian propaganda but on the flip side it spits out propaganda for the government.
Dissolving parties is not good for democracy but I can understand why it was done if the information can be trusted. They didn't ban all of the opposition parties. Banned parties were pro-russia parties. Obviously they were threat to national security because of ties to Russia. People are making this sound worse than it actually is.
Zelenskyi still being president is following the martial law. It is impossible to make a fair election happen when they are in war. He is not a dictator. Parliament still approves him as a president with votes 268 yes and 0 no
**This post was edited on Mar 4th 2025 at 1:03:31pm
In regards to the Church, this was a law passed by the parliament, signed by Zelensky, that gave the religious groups 9 months to sever ties with Russia, or be shut down. This appears to be popularly supported by Ukrainians according to polling and is a far cry away from “banning all churches”.
