How would it be a “level up.” If the EB-5 program which requires 800k-1m investment and 10 jobs, why would anyone apply for a gold card? Just to be forced to pay more and have to create more jobs? Why wouldn’t they just apply for an EB-5 for less? Supposedly they both offer the same benefit— citizenship— so why pay more? It doesn’t make any sense unless:
-It replaces/updates EB-5
-It offers something more regarding citizenship than EB-5 does and that’s why it costs more and requires more jobs
-It is available to people with a different set of eligibility requirements (ie: pay more and we overlook some of the background check limits with EB-5… or something?)
Just adding it as a “next level” EB-5 doesn’t make sense if EB-5 still exists.
And all three of the above bullet points warrant concern while they remain unanswered.
How about he doesn’t just throw out half-baked ideas that he has no power to implement without any details or plan just to troll the American people? Why not thoughtfully create a plan and be able to answer questions about it *before* you announce it. This isn’t the campaign trail.
VTshredder69I was under the assumption it was an EB-5 except a level up. Other countries do the same thing.
Oh, so the details begin to come out. The proposed "Gold Card" comes with tax benefit. Move here, keep all your business you currently have overseas, but pay no tax on it.
These guys are so fucking embarrassing my god this meeting with Zelenskyy I feel like a woman who’s bf is just drunk and belligerent and embarassing himself, and that bf is our president and VP. Fuck what an embarassment. Idiocracy regime. Trump is so blatantly Russia it just pisses me off how many times my tea party aunt was telling me the democrats were selling out USA to Russia

Embarassing? Trying to stop people from dying? Why should America pay for this war? Seriously, answer that question.
theabortionatorCool, some doctors go to a place we pay too much yet the people here can't even afford so everything else is inval. Also shockingly crickets on all the gofundmes here. That's pretty relevant imo
Again, your best doctors leave. USA has better doctors than Canada, it's a fact. You were wrong.
Lol. I'm literally asking you a question and you're getting mad about it?
Healthcare is a service not a right dude.
theabortionatorI literally had a friend go to mexico for shoulder surgery. I've had many friends end up with crazy bills even with "good health insurance". Our system is beyond broken. It's wild that its a talking point for people who claim to be for the working man. I have health insurance btw in communist California. It's great. I'll still fight for everyone else in this country to be covered.
In south Africa and many other countries you pay nothing or little if you're a citizen. Yet I've donated to sooooo many go fund me'a so people can get fixed up and not die. You've probably donated to none of them while being a smug asshole.
Idk, "3rd world countries" have a better system than us. But don't listen to me. Listen to people whoe rarely or never leave America. Yeah that seems legi.
Again I've been to hospitals, doctors, clinics in many countries. I have friends from all over the world. I choose to believe them and my own experiences over bullshit propaganda.
Again, how much do you donate to go fund me's of skiers and your other friends?
You’re a genuinely terrible person if have the apathy to believe these things. A huge swath of you need counseling to figure out who hurt you in life to give you such a disdain for a big enough swath of the population that you think kids should starve of succumb to medical complications because their family couldn’t keep a job in the most critical hours. Truly serial killer thoughts IMO but I guess when you spend your life preparing to kill your neighbors in TEOTWAKI I guess what else would we expect

So you're entitled to other people's work for nothing at all.
There's a reason it doesn't work that way.

Ugh. I just watched this, and it was very hard to watch. They let Zelensky speak for about 30 seconds, but the second it embarrassed Trump/Vance by Zelensky pointing out that there was already a cease-fire that Russia broke under Trump's first term, Trump/Vance did what they do...talk loud, interrupt, over speak...make it absolutely impossible for anything further to be said by Zelensky, shame and belittle Zelensky and try to overshadow what was said by Zelensky with their rhetoric.
It's so obvious what's going on here. When Vance says "its so disrespectful for you to come in here and try to litigate in front of the American media,"-- that line was so telling. Because it was VANCE who was triggered that the facts offered by Zelensky regarding the war timeline didn't exactly look flattering of Trump's prior term. Zelensky doesn't give a rats ass about the American media. He wants to protect and save his Country. It is Trump/Vance that care about how things are portrayed in the American media. So that was such a bizarre accusation.
Further, the then "you need to get down and kiss our feet and give us blowies" speeches by both Trump and Vance were really embarrassing.
I gotta give props to Zelensky for keeping his cool here and calling them out for thinking they can dominate the truth by simply "speaking loudly." But, Trump/Vance's strategies are effective with their base. Their base will watch this and be like YEAH!! About time someone is willing to speak up to these foreign dictators!!!... Vancy and Trump are very effective at appealing to ignorance.
The reality is, Zelensky is focused on Ukraine...and even though these conversations are about the Russian/Ukraine war, Trump and Vance are focused on how they're portrayed in the media to their base.
.MASSHOLE.We're all Zelensky as we listen to Trump speak.

Regarding loan forgiveness for public employees, as with most things, conservatives don't know the fine print so they just fill in with their own thoughts vs. seeking out the information.
I work for the government. I would be eligible for loan forgiveness...BUT, to qualify your loans must be public not private, AND you must work for the government for 10 years, AND during that 10 years you must have made all payments and not used any loan deferment.
You know that that amounts to? After 10 years of full principal and interest payments the remainder of my loans after 10 years of public service was $600. But...even then my student loans were private because public loans weren't enough money to pay for my tuition and books, so even my $600 wasn't forgiven.
VTshredder69I didn't know this. But you could make almost anything theoretical.
With your theory this is raising my taxes.
Mind explaining how that helps me?
To put it simply, it gives you options when it comes to doctors.
If you live in an urban area it means you're more likely to have a range of specialists to choose from.
If you live in a rural area it means you will actually have access to a PCP.
According to the AAMC, the average doctor graduates with ~$200k+ in debt (from UG and medical school). Honestly, this seems low to me seeing as most schools are ~$80k a year (tuition + CoL) but I don't think the AAMC takes CoL into account.
Seeing as the average salary for a resident is ~$60k a year (regardless of where they live) and residency takes ~ 4.5 years, it'd take decades for a physician to pay off this loan.
The average PCP salary is $272k / year but there is a wide discrepancy across the country for this. In MA, the average is ~$280k but in FL it's ~$162k.
There's a reason there's a shortage of PCPs across the country. It's mostly financial.
Without doing a lot more work on this response, it'd be financially impossible for the average physician to pay off a loan while trying to start a family and buy a house.
VTshredder69Yea fuck peace talks. We want war right?
That's a nice spin. If you were the leader of a country that was being invaded and your citizens were dying, how would you feel if you sat next to another world leader offering sympathy and forgiveness to the dictator that violated a cease fire and violated your country and people, because "poor Putin was accused of things found on Hunter Biden's laptop in his bathroom." What level of fucked up petty do you have to be to be talking about Hunter Biden's laptop when you're sitting in the presence of a Man who has lost 300,000 of his people? The man is a saint. I wouldn't have been able to physically control myself.
As an aside I see some direct parallels here on the global scale of what it is to be in a dysfunctional family with a narcissist dictator (talking about Putin), from my own personal experience.
In a dysfunctional family, the dictator/narcissist controls all. The person in the 2nd position of power advises those below to accept the mistreatment and acquiesce to the dictator/narcissist for the "good" of the family unit. This is justified because the victims are "rational, reasonable, and have the power to just choose to let go," to the dictator who cannot be reasoned with, and will fight to the death if challenged. This person in the 2nd position of power has been dominated and is fearful of the dictator/narcissist and is willing to throw the underlings under the bus to keep the "peace" for their own sake and what they believe to be the sake of the family unit and underlings-- never fully realizing and/or condemning the damage and destruction they're doing to the victims in forcing them to submit. But in doing so they're enabling the dictator/narcissist to continue the treatment/pattern and actually increasing their power every time the cycle is repeated.
I am told it is my fault by the person in 2nd power in my family for "responding" when abused by the dictator of my family. It is always my responsibility to submit or deescalate else be blamed for any discord despite clearly being the victim.
Anyway-- I just see the direct parallels here. It is clear Putin (dictator/narcissist) is in control of Trump (2nd person of power), who is chastising the underling (Zelensky) and insisting that Zelensky sacrifice all dignity and rights-- which in turn enables Putin and gives him more power. It couldn't be more clear. Trump knows that Zelensky is in the right and Putin is in the wrong, but he can't control Putin-- so he's enabling him by controlling and dominating the one side he feels he can.
It couldn't be more clear that Trump is under the control and power of Putin.

”I said, ‘Eric, who’s funding? I know no banks — because of the recession, the Great Recession — have touched a golf course. You know, no one’s funding any kind of golf construction. It’s dead in the water the last four or five years,’” the writers told WBUR.

VTshredder69So you're entitled to other people's work for nothing at all.
There's a reason it doesn't work that way.
This is the dumbest misunderstanding/misrepresentation of the debate over private insurance systems versus publicly funded healthcare systems I’ve ever seen. It’s just braindead cliched bullshit that doesn’t stand up to the tiniest sliver of critical thinking.
Doctors and nurses and other healthcare providers do not work for free in either system. Why the fuck would you think they do!?
The difference is whether you pay for it via taxes, or via insurance premiums. When paying the latter, a large chunk of what you pay goes insurance company profits, which is why the US spends more on healthcare than other developed nations whilst having similar or worse health outcomes.
Zelensky was already fucked. It's kind of surprising that he showed up today, knowing what we now know about the "deal" they wanted him to sign.
They expected him to sign away half of Ukraine's natural resource wealth for nothing in return, and they wanted him to say "thank you" for the privilege of doing so.
This was like a bad scene in a bad mob movie. The goal wasn't to get an actual deal done, the goal was to humiliate and delegitimize Zelensky on the world stage to appease Putin.
Nothing Trump and Vance said or did in that meeting, from the word 'go', could be considered diplomacy or statesmanship. It was just embarrassing.
Good post and I felt so bad for him. This isn’t a joke to him. Trump and Vance play political theater for fun at the expense of human life. It’s really sad.

profa_212"I'm not playing cards" damn fucking straight Mr Z.

What a god damn shame this all is.
We are rapidly shifting to a new world order and the US alienating allies is not good by any means. Piss off our neighbors. Bad move. Piss off Europe. Bad move. Get played by Russia. Still hostile towards China. Who is left to be friends with?! We are gonna find ourselves alone as hell if this keeps up. Trump mentioned WW3 today. If that ever happens, we are not positioned well to have a good outcome.
It’s gross. And Trump supporters should just go crawl into a cave at this point and stop posting because the rest of us who aren’t Joffrey Lannister are pretty sick of acting like this is even a debate.
Seeing Trump supporters respond to genuinely sad and disgusted Americans on Facebook with laugh/cry faces and mockery over this. It makes me sick. Who ARE these people?!
Half of our country is made up of bullies with no empathy, humility, understanding, grace, pride, dignity, and patriotism?
Looks like the whole “we are patriots! Freedom! American pride!” Was just cosplay for sociopaths.
I mean I knew they were bad, but I thought (or hoped) there was a line.
Zelensky is the admirable leader here. I wish we had a badass leader like that we could all get behind and be proud of.

Appreciate the details. I do have a friend who passed the MCATS & is almost finished with residency.
Health is definitely the most important thing in life. Without it you wouldn't have your life.
Not sure if you referenced it below but doctors malpractice insurance is through the fucking roof. I'm not exactly sure how much they pay but I know it's almost like getting Flood insurance in Louisianna.
This country needs good doctors and i hope the program below encourages them to remain in America.
Things do need to change.
.MASSHOLE.To put it simply, it gives you options when it comes to doctors.

I think you're entirely right. Unfortunately capitalism has a price --- greed. I don't think greed is bad in certain situations but it probably is in this case.
This might be entirely wrong --- lmk if i'm wrong.
Currently ---Doctors and nurses get paid through the hospital. The hospital claims team bills insurance. Insurance either partially denies or partially approves the claim based on what their client pays / doesn't pay.
Said insurance company sends funds based on the claim determination to the hospital?
The problem is that everything is privatized. Which can be beneficial in some situations IMO. But when it comes to peoples lives it does seem pretty shitty.
Don't shit on me i'm genuinely just trying to figure out how it works.

But what Musk wore was A/OK 👌
SSteezleAgain, your best doctors leave. USA has better doctors than Canada, it's a fact. You were wrong.
Not at all. I said out health care system is worse. Specialists will go where the money is and our shitty health care system drops bills like a rich kid at a strip club.
Again these specialists are genuinely not who you're seeing. People will vote against their best interests if they can other somebody.
VTshredder69Lol. I'm literally asking you a question and you're getting mad about it?
Healthcare is a service not a right dude.
Yeah. Spending more for less makes sense. I thought we cared about the price of gas an eggs. You should definitely go into debt for basic services. 'Murica'd
BiffbarfWild that people consider a service that must be provided by another a right.
Like I said its done free or cheap with less waste in even "3rd world" countries. Unfortunately the same oceans that shield us from war and reactions to our foreign policy, keep people from ever traveling. People who never leave their home county, have never left their home state, pushing bs opinions regarding other countries they couldn't find on a map. Seems legit dot jpeg
VTshredder69Yea fuck peace talks. We want war right?
