I've seen plenty of big box stores sell ski jackets and pants in the past, usually by some weird in-house brand name. It comes and goes, I think.

to me ski fashion and skiing/ski culture are not the same. they can merge harmoniously like Jon and JL, or sunice and their ski gear. or get completely taken out of context from skiing, directly to fashion like tecnica moon boots. some people dont actually want to go skiing, they want to look like they go skiing. it doesnt make sense to me either but whatever...
