ON3P's Mounted Incorrectly?

Hello all,

I'm a newbie and this is my first post so please go easy on me if I'm doing this wrong. I just got my ON3P Jeffrey 100's mounted to Look Pivots at -1.5 cm from true center. When I got home I did some measurements and it doesn't look like they are -1.5 from true center. Can someone tell me if I'm tripping or are they mount forward +1.5 not back from true center.

I measured from the center of the boot, please check the pictures attached.

Great, I wonder how hard it will be for the shop to refund me for them. It makes sense because it was all snowboarders working there and the scary thing is even the mounter himself said he worked on so many ski's, he might as well be a skier. I wonder how many ski's he messed up...

Don’t most boots have a midsole line marked on the outside? Where you marked on your boot looks close but I find it hard to believe someone fucked this up this badly. I mean I believe someone that works at a tech shop is a fucking idiot, that’s why they have that job in the first place but maybe you are measuring wrong

Gotta measure boot center on the ski w a piece of tape, not the center mark on the boot while its mounted. Bring em back n have em show you what they did. Just act curious about it, not pissed off. You’ll get further that way.

I don’t get how it’s OP fault though like they specifically have this kind of experience in order to mount them right ? Otherwise they shouldn’t be working there no? Make it make sense because you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about

Yea thats the midsole line where I put the arrow, it's hard to see buts its there. I also marked from the boot down to the ski to double check and its the same story.

Very true, gotta make them admit to it themselves, It should be an easy case though because who EVER in history would mounted +1.5 up from true center. I would think I'm obligated to a new pair of skis and I'm not going to give up until I get it.

Bro you don't have to use an alias, and who doesn;t know what they're talking about? Me? I'm not the one with a fucked up mount.

You told them -1.5 from center? what the fuck does that mean? True Center? Core center? Tip to tail? Center of contact? Center of sidecut? Center line on the graphic? Did you write it down? Did you just tell the guy verbally? Every year there are fucked up mount posts, you can't assume some moron snowboarder has any idea.

I wonder if maybe they measured the true length of the ski surface (like pre-press, with a tailor's tape) rather than a straight-pull like you did. If they did, the additional rocker in the front could account for 1.5cm I'd think.

Your mount is goofy. You never said you told them anything. Only "I just got my ON3P Jeffrey 100's mounted to Look Pivots at -1.5 cm from true center." Which is tracking with the way you phrased this comment, withholding any of your actions or how you directed them. Yea, the tech fucked up, you gonna demand new skis? What a fun process.

Whenever you're mounting a ski anywhere other than recommended it's a good idea to put a piece of masking tape across both skis with a neat, clear, straight line across the whole width of the top sheet triple checked for accuracy. Then write a little note in clear handwriting with an arrow indicating BSL center here. Also a good idea to write the BSL of your boot.

Exactly, and if they did fuck up your probably far enough away from the current holes where they could remount it where you want it... I know thats not ideal but if its possible, its probably what they're going to op for over replacing the ski

Yeah that's probably wise but it should only be a precaution. not doing so doesn't make it OP's fault

I'm debating on how to negotiate with the shop, I'm thinking I will tell them to remount them and just have them repay me for the value of the skis.

I dont think theyre gonna go for that. One or the other.. most likely the free remount. Maybe you could finesse them comping you for the value of the ski and then remount it somewhere else? Thats kinda a stretch tho

Not going to lie, I highly doubt they will pay you out the full value of your skis. Best you'll get is a free remount and maybe some store credit.

At this point you should name the shop. Coming through that good deserve customer support. Anyone local should give them support. That is the type of store that deserves to stick around.
