BreccanhI'm 5'10 and 150. 25.5 boot size. Last season I rode the k2 revolver Pro W 22/23 (they didn't have any mens left at my local shop). It is a 100 flex and I ride a lot of park but also all mtn. I have a pair of wets and new for this season 180 tanks. I had the worst shinbang for the last 2-3 years and couldn't ski many days out of pain. Is my boot flex the problem or the boot itself. Thank you as always.
NSCrip69It can actually be a combination of both bad boot fit or too stiff flex.
if you’re a lighter weight skier in a high stiffness boot, then that can be a cause of shin bang because your boot is so stiff that there is no flex or give to the boot so your shin has nothing to absorb shock against.
a good way to test this is just wear your boot on a solid surface and lean forward, you should be able to flex it a bit. If it doesn’t flex at all, it’s to stiff. And the opposite as well; if you’re able to flex it really far forward then it’s too soft and you won’t have any support on hard landings or impacts.

captainslackCould be a number of things - as others have said it's best to go to a bootfitter to get their opinion.
However I can give my experience. I'm your exact size weight and mondo. I have narrow ankles and really high calves which means I used to get a bit of heel lift, and had too much room in front of my shin. To counter this I used to crank down my buckles (Full Tilt TW boots) until I could barely feel my feet.
2 season ago I got rid of the intuitions and put in Zipfit freeride liners. I packed in around the ankle and the tongue with cork and wore them in for a few weeks. The difference is night and day. I can ski every day for 2 weeks straight completely pain free.
On top of this I really worked on my leg strength and ankle flexibility in the run up to the season. Heavy squats, plyometrics, lots of cycling, yoga and ankle mobility drills. Works wonders for avoiding ealry season shin bang. I'm now on a 130 flex tongue which feels perfect.
