Park Rat Shenanigans

My homie and I took a day trip to A 51's ole opening season park. Exchanging loads of bong rips in the whip whilst speeding the drive. We park and get up to take a few laps on the A 51 setup.....The sun shines and the snow gets just a bit slushed up. My homie turns to me during to me and says, " yo, I totally forgot, where are we even at man?".

Went there again one time after taking a hit or two of lsd. Swear it only made me better, helping me see a previously unseen gyroscopic dimension to das spinning. I belive I 4'd on to the downtube though its been a while since I remembered. LOL lowkey claim best psychedelic skiing trip yet (have had some nightmares though)....

oh how I miss Keystone aint been in years.

Last season at my local, some kid did a Lincoln/flat 3 (can’t remember) straight into a kid’s noggin. Pretty scary actually because the dude who got hit didn’t have a helmet

Early 00s Outdoors Club trips to Loon were real shitshows where my high school just unleashed thirty kids on the mountain and everyone was bringing Poland Spring vodka in their backpacks. Drunk, underage kids, half of whom had never skied or snowboarded trying to do skate and blading tricks they had on lock was a vibe


The year they built a superpipe my friend Joe dropped in on his older sister’s Elans and tried to throw an alleyoop 3 on the first hit and instead smacked his head off the lip and ended up in Littleton Hospital.

Damn that’s gnarly. Incredible the amount of people who have been hit in this fashion, you think they would have some sense. Though I wouldn’t expect to be beaned being that far out. Crazy.

I remember getting into a snowball fight that turned into a fist fight with some kids in the park during spring time. My buddies would jump off the chairlift, smoke bongs in the chalet, I remember the 30 year old park chair Lift operator tried to fist fight my 14 year old friend at the time because we kept bouncing the chairlift and not putting the bar down. when I was first getting into terrain park skiing in 2009 when I was 9 years old and remember people would leave pairs of skis at the bottom of the park chair with a for sale sign and a phone number attached to them before Facebook market place. You would Find out about certain brands from seeing their stickers on the chairlift or ads in a magazine.

some guy landed on my buddy's Grandpaw who for some reason was skiing down the middle of the landing. hit him in the head, he was bleeding and shi. halfway down in the sled, he told the ski patrol to stop the sled and let him out, and he skied the rest of the way down. what a legend.

My friend and I skipped school for Killington opening day (even tho it was for pass holders only) We knew they would only be checking passes at the base to load the gondola, so we just figured we would get a cool lifty that would respect our 90 minute drive for opening day and let us rip. They were not stoked and told us to come back tomorrow for the public opening day. We did not want to take the L so we started hiking to the mid mountain lift where they were not checking lift tickets (for those that ski Killington this should kinda make sense, for those that don't we may sound incredibly stupid but stay tuned)

After a stupid long hike, we got to the lift just to be greeted by a lift technician who told us to turn around. This woman watched us hike the entire mountain with our ski stuff and waited for us to walk on the snow before finally telling us to turn around. She was way too proud to tell two 17 year old kids to turn around and walk back down the mountain. Dont get me wrong, I know that what we were doing wasn't allowed and pretty stupid, but the fact that Killington legitimately had a team of employees spending their opening day putting effort into making sure the two kids without season passes do not touch the snow was very odd to me, especially since all employees were being very disrespectful about it. I felt super defeated, but my buddy kept saying we were not taking the L. We hiked up the trail just to the right of the liftline along the trees so it was tough to spot us, then snuck into the park and hiked rails for hours. Once ready to ride the lift down, we agreed to initiate the most victorious hotbox in the gondy as a reward for our adventure. As the gondola doors opened flooding with smoke, the first person to greet us was the woman who proudly told us to turn around at the mid mountain lift. The look on her face when she recognized us was straight out of a movie, mouthing "how in the fuck" as we walked past her smoking an absurdly sized backwood. Other lifty was an old man nodding at us with a big smile, looking proud and amazed (she must have told him the story of kicking us out because I could tell he hated that woman too and was stoked that we were able to ski)

Park rat shenanigans have led me to the best ski days of my life and some amazing stories / memories. I would highly suggest waiting for Killington's public opening day but if you decide youre too impatient hmu for tips lol

when I was like 14 I hit some other kid's vape in the lodge bathroom. He told me I was now addicted and that my life was fucked up now

I’ve seen so many stupid crashes up at blue hahaha kevvyk dub backflip to knock out. Paul Bruning doing hippie killers and they used to set up big air over the falls. God I miss sidewinder park days with the homies there.

My local had the park at the top of the t-bar. We found a spot where the t-bar was low enough to grab it and skip the 3/4 down to the bottomn.

the fellas and I would always pull some shit to try to get into the lessons line. the classic "Yeah our coach is at the top. We just had to stop at the bathroom" works pretty well. we also just blatantly tried to pretend like one of us was a coach.

ending day of the season at summit was fully slush/slop/non existent, and the only way to enjoy (obviously) was to drink excessively. didn’t make it on 9 chair at closing and had to fat hike with a sixer dumped in a camelback, cousins, homies, everyone had to hike the cut through path all with similar alcoholic circumstances. boxzilla hype was immaculate.

We got 13 people in an 8 person gondola at gore. Lifties yanked one out so we had 12. No idea why they didnt jist stop the lift. But we smoked a blunt. Pretty sure we used it in an edit.

Went to ome of the summer railjams at whaleback. The rain washed away whatever rink snow they had brought. We had split a 10 trip on the way so we were a little spun. Was kinda of scary climbing up drop in platforms lol. Me and 1 friend still had a good time. Other friend got scared and word and i dont think he put his skis on.

I remember rolling up to the drop in of the jumpline and these two older kids had a handle of captain. Asked if I wanted some. I was like hell yeah. Then had a nice little warm feeling through the jumps.
