I would recommend checking out Lake Superior College (LSC) in Duluth, MN.
Being so close to the Cirrus factory (one of the main small aircraft manufacturers, also the biggest employer in the city), you get to use Cirrus aircraft in the program and that attracts a lot of students.
One of my friends is enrolled in their accelerated program right now, it's a 4 year program in 2 years. He flies 4 days a week. I'm sure he wouldn't mind talking to you about it.
Duluth has great access to skiing with 3 ski hills in the area. Spirit mountain being the biggest. There is an Arsenic video that my friend
@number1.suspect put together at Spirit. One of the only MN hills with big jumps if that's your thing.
There's also a great ski community here with lots of street skiing and ski trips being taken.
@ndry__03 started a ski club at University of Minnesota - Duluth this year and they just had a fall rail jam (with real snow) sponsored by Red Bull and Atch Corp.
I lived out west for 3 years out of high school but finished college in Duluth, MN. It was a great decision for me. I had the support I needed to get through college and get my engineering degree while also being able to ski 4-6 days a week. Something that I definitely couldn't do when I was going to school out west.
It's not out-west skiing, but it's damn good fun.
