99.999% of shampoo and hair care products are total snake oil. Thought I was balding, so I was taking minoxodil and whatnot. Said fuck it and stopped putting anything in my hair. 6 months of using absolutely nothing but water has done far more for my hairline than 3 years of rogaine. My hairline is almost fully back to normal.
They convince you that your hair will be all greasy and gross if you don't use shampoo, so you dry out your hair and scalp, then need to add all kinds of oils back. Just shower daily and you'll be fine.
If you’re interested in using better products, download the app Yuka. Scan the barcode in store and it’ll tell you how many shitty things are in it. For this reason alone, I use Native for shampoo/conditioner and deodorant, and dr bronners for just about everything else
