Skijoring

Has anyone here ever tried skijoring?

It looks pretty fun and has a good cash prize. My sister has a horse and wants me to compete with her, and I was just wondering what to expect when riding behind a horse is it pretty hard or easy?

also if I did it would some heavily ridden Vishnu wet + hold up or would I want to ride something more specific to the competition?

High key looks like the same principle as water skiing, so if you can handle yourself on those you’ll probably be fine

Ever had skiers thumb? you'll get it 10x worse if you fall with a tow rope in your hand haha

I had some buddies who did this for awhile, its super gnarly.

When I was like 6 I'd do it with my dog, was pretty fun. Only did it for like 2 winters, then I got too big. Doing it behind a horse sounds fuckin sick, OP should do it.

well you should practice lol. shes got the horse so it sounds like you got the opportunity to put in a bit more time behind the reigns than most!

Oof I didn’t even think of that, I’ve almost completely torn that ligament in my thumb a couple years ago

I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to try this shit for years. Unfortunately if/when me and the homies have an extra 15k each lying around we would probably think sleds not Horse.

get the rope as far away from you as possible if you crash or let go. if it gets caught on your gear you're getting dragged western style

I think you should consider the smell. Whenever horses get involved things tend to get stinky and satanic.

definitely practice! much easier to build up to being in higher speed situations ie competition.
they’re always lookin for skiers, very different worlds but cool to see them combine. it’s pretty competitive as far as i’ve seen.
