I have done lots of sports photography and know my ways around a camera pretty good but I have never really figured out how to start or shoot for skiing. I just don’t know what angles are the best or where to go. Any tips?

Go shoot dude, don’t overthink it just find some homies and have fun.
if your really wanting to learn, look for other photogs in the industry, so many people with serious talent out there to learn from.

just go do it. you'll learn a lot. for starters, for angles, get a huge fisheye lense (like an affordable opteka 0.3) to use 50% of the time for close ups and follows. and then where to go? wherever the skiing is bruh just go get after it

just gotta get after it :) find some friends who are down to ski in front of your camera, and do some trial and error. notice how other photographers work within guidelines like avoiding missed grabs or butt shots etc- and dig into the media forum on here. there's heaps of advice already out there, but also feel free to reach out if you've ever got specific questions!

apparently hopping on early 2000s skate video trends is hip lol. get a grainy fisheye so no one can tell where the snow stops and the sky starts. and make sure the camera stays below the knees closer to boot level. it’s important that 50% of the shot is blank ground. only a pussy would use a tripod/gimbal/digital stabilization. keep that shit ‘raw’ and shake that camera like a trailer park single mom does her crying new born. boom now your a trendy ski filmer!

Go watch your favorite ski videos and pay attention to the zoom/movement of the camera.

i like the level 1 full jump profile shot, maybe with a little pan like they do. also love the ski along follow cam from about 20ft, usually going around the lips. a mix of pretty close, skier fills most of the frame and long lens shots for rails in park or urban. shoot from all angles, i like variety.
