Bachelors Local Takeover

It would be hard gig. The overhead of running a mounting like bachelor is outrageous. And unlike most ski areas in the usa there is no development at base areas. No lodging no restaurants no bars and such (abiet the day lodges). Bachelor is a big.mtn. and it's kinda fun

So would it be publicly owned by the town or owned by some sort of community cooperative?

I spend most of my time skiing a publicly owned hills and I love it, but I think it would be harder with a big place like bachelor. All of the sick publicly owned ski hill I know of: hyland, gunstock nh, BMoM csb and spruce in Maine, are all small and can be run on a minimalist budget. Bachelor would be a big project for the bend parks and rec department to take on. But obviously if that worked it would be sick, and the fact that the base area is pretty minimalist might actually make it easier because you wont have to deal with real estate developers who have their own agenda

Yeah it would be owned by a community co-op, or what it's titled as is the mount bachelor community inc. They got a ton of local support and already reached they're gofundme amount, as long as another company doesn't buy it out I am hoping bachelor stays local till the end of days

If the community buys it I say it's a 50-50 chance it gets better. It ain't easy to run a ski resort. As long as Vail doesn't buy Bachelor, I'm happy.

Of course, they offer it to Vail, Alterra & probably Boyne too, then they put it on the public market
