Replying to Number of Boarders vs skiers-Big Snow

Okay, this is a genuinely unimportant thread and string of ideas. I was simply wondering. As a big snow pass holder, I've been to the fridge a lot, and I've noticed that there have been more boarders in the park than skiers.

I could be totally wrong, but this is interesting because I see a more even spread on actual hills.

This just popped into my head, and I could totally be 100% wrong. If I seem to be partially correct about this, any reason why this might be the case?
