Replying to CANON GL2 NOT WORKING

I got a canon gl2 recently and it seemed like it was in good condition when i got it. Whenever I try to put in a tape though it gives me the remove tape error. At first I thought it was dirty heads so i got q-tips and rubbing alchol and cleaned them. It still doesnt work and im wondering if I need a new drum or should I run a head cleaner through it? Should I try to clean it again or will it just get more damaged ? Any advice would be great.
