There's no shortage of people who are clearly unsatisfied (perhaps fairly, perhaps not, idk) with line skis for the past few years at least. Now we got line snowboards (and currently no snowboard team). Honest question: do you think this will make people more likely to buy lines?

Fr, I want to like Line, cause of their history and involvement with skiing (plus they do make some cool skis), but I just can't get past the shitty quality. Had a pair of Bacons a few years ago that blew up after 15 fucking days (mostly pow days and groomers mind you), and the response from Line was "tough bud, you bought em on pro deal". Hands down the most fun pair of skis I've owned, but I can't justify spending $$$ every 2 weeks for new skis.

Yeah my first pair of twin tips were lines and I honestly really want to support them again but the durability issues are just so glaring and instead of investing in higher quality skis they go and make snowboards, like wtf. If the skis were still good and they were branching out that would be more chill but at this point it seems like they are just trying to flood every niche of the market with cheap flimsy bullshit
The more I think about this the wacker it feels. You would never ever see a core, founding company of snowboarding start making skis. Feels like a slap in the face to the community for line to basically say yeah snowboarding is actually cooler and our skiers agree.

And I think they are trying to send an important message with the "it doesn't matter what you are riding" unity type of saying.
And if it's serious business decision to sell snowboards? If there is no demand like most of you are saying they will stop selling them. In this case their aim would be to make money and if they can't profit they will stop.

That's exactly what they did wrong. @hi_vis360 explained it very well somewhere in here, but instead of fixing their shitty products, they decided to further alienate themselves from their clientele and produce something for a completely different demographic. They used resources for developing a snowboard instead of making their skis better... they're one of the most iconic names in freeskiing, skis should be their number one priority.
The reason this is an issue is because a lot of people (myself included) want to ride Line skis, I grew up loving Line, it was the coolest brand ever. I can't afford 3 pairs of skis and season, therefore I literally can't ride their skis. Every year they say they beefed up the skis and made them more durable, and every year they get more expensive and a little bit worse, that's just giving fans the middle finger and that's whack.
And you can't say they don't have an obligation to the ski scene, they were founded to push skiing, they did exactly that for a decade, fading away from this vision is fuckin lame and they should get called out for it, and if you don't care about all that it's fine, but it is objectively shitty at the end of the day.

There is nothing I can say from my perspective to defend their shitty skis because there is none. But from their perspective people still buy their skis, there is demand for them even with bad durability. So maybe it's easier for them to throw few special marketing words around instead of wasting lot of money to fix them because people will fall for the marketing and still buy those shitty skis. I do think this is dishonest business model but it's working. Or maybe their engineers are just dumb and incapable to fix the skis.
They don't really have any obligations other than to make money for shareholders. That is the sad truth of today. Brands evolve with time (or maybe in this case devolve). I don't think line is as bad as you make it seem. Line still supports events, video projects and lot of athletes. All of those are still pushing skiing to different directions. Like last year we got Daycare, LTC still going and their athletes release cool things every year. imo some those athletes wouldn't even have ski sponsor without Line.
I feel like the vision to push skiing is still there but they also need to make more money. That is not objectively shitty. That is not what they should be called out for because their efforts are still visible in the scene every year. Them still making shitty skis is objectively shitty. That is what they should be called out for.
I will never buy anything from line again and my childhood feelings about them have faded away.

This is tougher than it looks because snowboard cores have a lot less material where you would need to mount bindings for a mono. You'd have to laminate some metal strips or something to the board for the bindings to hold.

For really, I was making the protos in between his ski designs. The snowboard guys were funny about it, majority were pretty stoked, one of them is a professional hater tho so I don't count his opinion
The camo isnt the final, it's to tie in with the release of those camo edition line skis that just dropped

I dont know why i hated on this earlier. They seem to be owning the whole hate thing around it and I don't see any problem with them making boards now. Almost every freestyle ski event I have been to in Ontario has been sponsored and more money for line means more events sponsored and more sick rail jam prizes and more happiness all around. Thank you line
I don't think there are any brands I would consider buying both skis and snowboard from, maybe Salomon. Sticking with skis from ski brands and snowboards from snowboard brands just makes sense.
