1spliff2guinniesWhat can Line bring to the table that the other dawgs haven't been doing for the past 25 years?
SessionI snowboard and ski. I'll buy snowboards from a snowboard company.
NSCrip69Guy really forgot that companies like K2 exist 💀
people like this are why marketing teams make the big bucks lmao
sindreplassento be fair k2 has been in snowboarding forever, k2 also owns ride
NSCrip69That’s kinda my point. Guy wants to “buy skis from skiers or snowboards from snowboarders” when it literally doesn’t matter lol.
Unless it’s a tiny local business like Moment/on3p/etc, All these companies are webs of separate legal entities. in the end they’re all owned by a large corporate conglomerate.

sindreplassenyou can buy buy from independent owned snowboard brands lol, a bunch of them. Buy on3ps and an information garage board, pretty sure bigger companies like 686 and nitro are rider owned too but could be wrong on that. It’s pretty much the same thing for both skiing and snowboarding
Way*MoRumors of Armada getting into snowboards too
Farmville420They've slowly been trashing Lines legacy with the historically shitty skis, promotion of all these new athletes who contribute the bare minimum (insta skier safety dub 10 on Twall pros type deal), and now they're even manufacturing the very thing that J Lev created Line skis to NOT have to ride? So much goodwill lost, 10 episodes of LTC + Daycare 2 better be in the works because I'm really not fucking with this company at all lately.
TL;DR this is whack as fuck

hi_vis360I straight up don’t understand why line can’t make durable skis like poachers and just go all in on street and park skiing. Do we still need line pow skis without Eric Pollard on the team? Do we need line comp jocks? Do we need line snowboards? They could be the coolest brand in the game (daycare proved this) but choose not to be.
BarfyDeeI’d really have thought that Line would have maybe checked in with the sentiment on NS regarding something like this before just doing it. But at least Armada will have a chance to see how this play out now.

NSCrip69Wut? Line is making park skis that nobody else will because it’s proven that park skis arent as profitable as all mountain/carvers . Practically their entire line up is freestyle focused. in their freestyle catalog, They offer park skis at every width and for every style of park skier you can imagine. What is your problem with them offering a 90 wide comp park ski? If you don’t ski freestyle competitively then don’t buy it and pick something else from their catalog like a chronic 94.
what exactly more do you want? If you want an all mountain or carver go to a traditional brand like Head or Rossignol.

JLevThanks for speaking up! Most of you understand and respect Line's purpose more than the people running it

Farmville420False equivalence, K2 and Line are completely different companies with different identities. If atomic made a snowboard nobody would give a fuck, Line Skis doing it is a slap in the face to the culture that they themselves created. There's a reason J Lev left his own company and shit like this just makes it way easier to understand why he did
SofaKingSicksame but at the same time i can't imagine why this would bother anyone
PoikenzBecause it goes against the counter culture of a counter culture. The whole reason line did the whole "I am a skier." merch. For a site that rips on anyone and everyone for being not core, the majority of you seem to be pussying out when a company actually does something that isn't core. Selling snowboards is certainly going to help with Line giving back to the skiing community though.
If someone at Burton suggested selling Burton branded hyphy sticks they'd probably be escorted off the property and Burton is corporate as fuck.

cool270outI’m laughing so fucking hard right now. Line made a snowboard before they offered their skis in 191 length. Amazing.
skiP.E.I.I'm seeing a connection between all the soft, short turn radius skis coming out lately and snowboarding. A lot of these kinds of skis like the Blade, Sakana, Depart etc. feel kind of 'snowboard-y' so marketing a snowboard to folks who don't want to ski high consequence stuff (the majority), want to buy gear but might already have several pairs of skis and who really want to get into exploring turns/carving makes sense to me.
Also I'd recommend anyone who's trying to progress in 'freeskiing' to spend some time on a snowboard, since there was so much crossover from snowboarding early on. Makes sense to learn those building blocks, also exploring grabs and different ways to approach and press on rails can be really helpful.
SofaKingSickyeah idk i guess i'm just so core idgaf about who's core or not. and if we're counting, line has done plenty of goofy shit over the years
also just never understood the ski vs snowboard beef and i almost never see it in real life, only online. reminds me of school kids arguing over baseball vs football or something, who gives a fuck?
SessionIt doesn't bother me per se. But I see zero point in the original core ski brands venturing in to a market that won't necessarily be accepting. The pushback would be the same as if a company like Capita or Ride decided to make ski's. It seems like throwing money in the trash if you ask me. I'm not sure why Lib-tech makes ski's. But they also make surfboards, skateboards, and wakesurf's.
treebeardMy dude, thank you. Skis feel so soulless now. How are companies like Armada and Line so fucking corporate now, I seriously don't recognize the culture anymore. Even the OG film crews are basically all gone. What happened? If it weren't for guys like you, the On3P and Moment crews, Vishnu etc, everything would just be copies of each other.
Absolutely love my Fastforwards by the way. Sorry to see your first baby being abused
