KungKalmarStill not sure if you are a troll or just dumb as fuck.
I understand that in your case wearing helmet is not that essential since you have nothing important to protect up there but that doesn't mean helmets or mips doesn't work. With a simple google you could read how and what mips does.
"Mips works by adding a low-friction layer within the helmet, known as the Mips layer. This layer sits between the energy-absorbing layers (“padding”) in the helmet and allows the head to move slightly within the helmet upon impact. This movement helps to dissipate the energy from the impact, reducing the risk of injury to the brain."
You’re seeing first hand what happens when someone doesn’t wear a helmet and falls on their head based off all his posts.
"This gives a large sensitivity of the strain in the brain to rotational loading and a small sensitivity to linear kinematics"
The TL;DR answer is that with sports like football, blunt impact (linear) is more common than rotational acceleration is. Whereas Skiing is the opposite- more likely to have rotational impact than linear impact. So I guess you design the helmet for the sport? The space and cost of MIPS for football helmets would be better suited to tech to help mitigate the impact of blunt trauma, which is more common in football and less common in skiing. There is a reason why you dont see people baseball helmets skiing, and why you dont see people rock ski helmets playing hockey. Im sure this is overgeneralized, but this is my take and I will stand corrected if someone has a better interpretation of those articles or actually does this sort of research in an academic setting.
Unless you name is Jack Pilot. Then you do whatever the hell you want
Now you’re just being insane. Using factual data to prove a point.
NSCrip69Watch the latest episode of SLVSH (or really any episode tbh) and tell me how many of those guys are wearing helmets.
What does a video full of fools willing to scramble their brain's prove? Your Schumacher point was even dumber. Yes he was injured wearing a helmet, he would have been dead without one. There is absolutely zero evidence to back any of your claims.
NSCrip69MIPS is a scam lol. Go look at a helmet with one. It’s literally just a paper thin piece of plastic stuck to the inside and they somehow patent that and make millions from it. It does nothing
It's sad Poc decided to switch to MIPS with promissing data like this about their SPIN system. However Poc hasn't ever made a good looking helmet so it's not much of a loss. Hopefully we get WaveCel or Leatt's turbine system on a good looking ski helmet at some point, they seem intriguing.
handrailshurtI dont get the hype for helmets these days, back when i was grom, no one wore helmets. Generations soft.
This the same attitude people had about seatbelts in the 1970's. fuckin geezer
Anyone who doesn't wear a helmet has a very low IQ, that's genuinely the only explanation. there's no downsides.
People who don't wear helmets are also likely to:
Be bad drivers (gets 4x4 stuck on the way to the hill)
have struggled to get passing grades in school
Pay multiple child support bills
Have an Ex's name tattooed
Disrespect their mothers
Be over the age of 5 and still not like vegetables
Think Hummers are cool
Believe WWE isn't scripted.
Farmville420Because hockey players won't wear it they already hate wearing the minimal protection they currently use.
Several NFL players have started playing with guardian caps in NFL, however the league leaves it up to the player to decide if they want to wear one or not.
Did u make this up, its because mips is meant to absorb rotation impacts which are way more common skiing than in other sports like football and hockey.
also how are all of u falling into the ns crip rage bait trap

I mean, no? I didn't comment on mips I just said players don't usually like using any sort of protection in general. They have helmets for football that mitigate concussions called guardian caps, players don't want to wear them...
The hockey thing is anecdotal, I know a lot of hockey players who refuse to wear pads, it was also a big deal in the 70s when the league started enforcing helmets.
I would pray for the sweet release of death if I were in MSC's condition.

Not wearing a helmet is like not wearing a condom. Are you objectively safer using one? Yes. Does it feel good not wearing one? Also yes.
Phoenixgrassl21Yes wear a helmet, only reason some pros don’t is because they are so comfortable on that trick that they pretty much won’t crash. Even Henrik says wear a helmet your brain is your style
He is talking about Henrik VIII, the king of England in 1509-1547. He advised his men to wear a helmet but he himself didn't because he was G and wasn't scared of the muskets.

I'm not talking about people who didn't wear one before it became the norm, the culture was different and the tech wasn't nearly as good.
But if you still don't wear one you are objectively stupid. Not wearing something that makes you much less likely to die or suffer serious injury just because you don't like how they look is not a smart thing to do. The only reason you would do that is if you have poor critical thinking skills and struggle to weigh risk and reward. I don't know how else you would look at it.
I guess some pros have an image to maintain and not wearing a helmet is part of it but other then that... yeah its still stupid.
And I never said I have a high IQ. It doesn't take a high IQ to figure this one out.
-JustDidIt-If to wear a helmet, which one would you'all say looks the best
Giro Ledge is a classic but if you don't want to have the same helmet as half the people on this hill:
Smith Method (some colors on sale right now on smith website)
Bern Macon 2.0 (unfortunately you cant take the ear pads out without cutting them or removing all the padding.)
Salomon Brigade ( idk i like the way this one looks but my buddy hates it)
Also I'm sick of everyone having black helmets, I wanna see more colorful buckets.

Owned a Macon 2.0 for a year plus; iirc tearing out the ear pads only pulls out a tiny piece of connective padding so no big loss and then it’s a great MIPS bike helmet as well.

weird, on mine the whole padded liner and the pads are connected
