brownetownI wear a watermelon
gnarhuckdo you wear a helmet when you ski?

Phoenixgrassl21Yes wear a helmet, only reason some pros don’t is because they are so comfortable on that trick that they pretty much won’t crash. Even Henrik says wear a helmet your brain is your style
NSCrip69Your skull is a natural helmet already and a helmet isn’t gonna stop your brain from hitting the inside of your skull which is the real issue. A helmet isn’t going to automatically save your life and hitting your head with and without a helmet still causes a concussion.
SendyMcSendyfaceGot a gnarly concussion from a bad slam a few years ago at Sun Peaks. If I wasn't wearing a helmet I'd be fucking dead. (my face doesn't normally look like this)
NSCrip69you can hit your head on snow without a helmet and it doesn’t do much different than it would have been wearing one. Your skull is thick af and snow is not gonna crack it.

handrailshurtNo helmet, only time your gonna land on your head and a bucket might come in handy is if you catch an edge. Other times it is not gonna prevent injury and your gonna look like a goob
SlushSeasonLand switch with your skis slightly crossed -> back of head slams into ground
Land forward, too frontseat -> double ejection, forehead into ground
Slip out on a rail with speed -> head could go literally anywhere
Skiing through the trees fast -> a thousand hazards to clonk your head

NSCrip69Facts. It’s also been scientifically proven that head injuries are significantly more common with snowboarders than skiers because of the different way that snowboarders fall. When skiers fall it’s usually to the side where we can use arms/shoulders to absorb the impact. And when it is front or rear, we have the tip and tail that absorbs the impact before bindings release which gives more time to react with our arms to catch the fall

NSCrip69People think if you’re not wearing a helmet you’re gonna die . It’s not like that. People who have died skiing were wearing helmets many times. Michael Schumacher and Sarah Burke were both wearing helmets. Vice versa you can hit your head on snow without a helmet and it doesn’t do much different than it would have been wearing one. Your skull is thick af and snow is not gonna crack it. The thing I’m more scared of as a veteran skier is hitting your chest and collapsing your aorta. That and a spinal injury you should be more worried about.

darthlobster603I wear one. Not sure if i can get behind the benefits of Mips entirely (after having both versions and taking head hits with them) but i think it deflects force more than anything else when you take a fall and bounce your head off something. Also in my 30s and dont have rubber bones like i used to so it gives me piece of mind since i still ride like an idiot.
NSCrip69MIPS is a scam lol. Go look at a helmet with one. It’s literally just a paper thin piece of plastic stuck to the inside and they somehow patent that and make millions from it. It does nothing
