Mid season when it's brick af out...yes. Not rocking a lid limits me to just cruise and throw tricks feel solid with, never sending big. Typically first few months on the east coast nothing is solid yet and most parks are just a bunch of tubes 2 feet off the ground too.

People think if you’re not wearing a helmet you’re gonna die . It’s not like that. People who have died skiing were wearing helmets many times. Michael Schumacher and Sarah Burke were both wearing helmets. Vice versa you can hit your head on snow without a helmet and it doesn’t do much different than it would have been wearing one. Your skull is thick af and snow is not gonna crack it. The thing I’m more scared of as a veteran skier is hitting your chest and collapsing your aorta. That and a spinal injury you should be more worried about.
Your skull is a natural helmet already and a helmet isn’t gonna stop your brain from hitting the inside of your skull which is the real issue. A helmet isn’t going to automatically save your life and hitting your head with and without a helmet still causes a concussion.

The chance of it preventing or reducing a head injury (high) is worth the minor inconvenience of wearing it.

You are right that helmet doesn't automatically stop you from getting concussion. Helmet absorbs forces. In many cases it absorbs enough forces so you don't get a concussion or become a vegetable. Also helmet is important in park because you don't want to fracture your skull with a rail you were supposed to k-fed.
This graph is from a very accurate scientific test (I have no idea where from but it should give you an idea how helmets work and you should get the point). The difference is big enough for me.

fair enough, jinxing myself here but this doesn't happen to me. If you wanna wear a helmet though that's fine idc do your thing that's what the sports about. Just saying I don't wear a helmet and am not planning on changing

yeah its not guaranteed to protect you but without a doubt it improves you chances. glad you could find two examples to back up you argument but that's not how meaningful evidence works.

I wear one. Not sure if i can get behind the benefits of Mips entirely (after having both versions and taking head hits with them) but i think it deflects force more than anything else when you take a fall and bounce your head off something. Also in my 30s and dont have rubber bones like i used to so it gives me piece of mind since i still ride like an idiot.

I understand that in your case wearing helmet is not that essential since you have nothing important to protect up there but that doesn't mean helmets or mips doesn't work. With a simple google you could read how and what mips does.

You can get a mips helmet for 100 bucks. Think smith maze or giro ledge. The non mips version of those are like 15-20 bucks less. There is literally no reason to cheap out on something that could save you from being a vegetable. Like seriously. If you buy one thing new, it should be a mips helmet.

Ripping down a literal ice rink at 50+ mph, tossing your body in the air while going inverted, voluntarily going off of cliffs, and balancing at high speed while sliding down a contorted metal pipe. I wouldnt go as far as to say its a scam, i think its purpose is to add more deflection to an impact rather than try to dampen the impact entirely. I was just stating i havent really noticed any difference using the same helmet in both mips and non mips. That being said i usually wear a hat under my helmet which im sure probably adds a variable in the whole thing as well.

1. I’m not making anyone take their helmet off do whatever, it’s lame to change because you wanna be edgy just wear what you want and are comfortable with
2. I have a motorcycle and I do wear a helmet but helmets for motorcycle are much more robust. Also riding a motorcycle is wayy different then skiing because you are at risk of idiot drivers not paying attention and hitting you and are also on pavement which makes the risk way higher.
3. I don’t ride on the freeway on my motorcycle because I know that helmet ain’t doing much if I get hit so id rather stay out of situations that are less than optimal. The rest of your body is at risk too when riding a motorcycle because when you fall you’ll get churned into ground beef

Because hockey players won't wear it they already hate wearing the minimal protection they currently use.
Several NFL players have started playing with guardian caps in NFL, however the league leaves it up to the player to decide if they want to wear one or not.

The TL;DR answer is that with sports like football, blunt impact (linear) is more common than rotational acceleration is. Whereas Skiing is the opposite- more likely to have rotational impact than linear impact. So I guess you design the helmet for the sport? The space and cost of MIPS for football helmets would be better suited to tech to help mitigate the impact of blunt trauma, which is more common in football and less common in skiing. There is a reason why you dont see people baseball helmets skiing, and why you dont see people rock ski helmets playing hockey. Im sure this is overgeneralized, but this is my take and I will stand corrected if someone has a better interpretation of those articles or actually does this sort of research in an academic setting.
