Mont Tremblant - US to Canada

ICaryJust booked a trip the Mont Tremblant for February and we are thinking we are going to drive from the east coast of the US to Mont Tremblant.0

Couple questions; anyone have any favorite trails, bars, restaurants that we should hit while we are there?
Also, has anyone ever done the drive? Wondering if I need anything specific for the travel of crossing the border with my pickup truck full of peeps and skis.

My advise is dont go to tremblant

Tremblant's park on the south side is usually pretty nice, by february it should all be done

there's a part of the resort called ''the edge'' that has nice skiing for powder days.

the ''dynamite'' on the north side is worth tackling, its pretty f'in rowdy for a resort slope

the p'ti caribou in the village down the south side is pretty much the place to be for apres

if you want to holla a ski legend , Philou poirier has a bike shop in the old village

Hell yeah! sounds like a fun trip.

Biggest piece of advice is to just have your passports ready and be prepped for the crossing. The boarder patrol agents are maybe the biggest assholes in the world. Especially crossing back into the US.

Bring plenty of layers. I've been to Tremblant twice and it was negative temps each time.

The mountain area is pretty elitist/resorty but the skiing itself is dope. Don't know trail names but I really enjoyed some of the glades and tree skiing they had, including some easier ones that even my gf (very beginner) could do.

Also, depending on where you're leaving from, you'll probably pass right by Montreal which I'd definitely recommend checking out! Super cool city.

Lol yeah one of the days we were there it was -56F with wind chill. Coldest temps I've ever been in. We didn't even try to ski and I'm pretty sure the mountain closed down for the day.

Second vote for Versant Edge especially the glade lines immediately to the right at the top of the lift that you have to skate up a lil hill to get to.

Also CBC and the adjacent glade runs.

There's also a mellower glade run on the Soleil side with awesome views, but it's a bit of a mission to get to and I forget the name lol.

Main park from the Flying Mile lift is worth checking out, usually lots of interesting (and often large and intimidating) jibs.

TL;DR hit the trees for best skiing, warmth and optimum crowd avoidance.

We are going with 14 people of all skill levels, so we just vibe and ski on the trip. We like the idea of the little village for us. 7 guys and 7 girls and really only like 4 real skiiers.

Already have all the passport info set. Just 1/14 needs to renew it so hopefully he does his job.

Thanks for the info on the cold. Good note to make sure the group is prepared for some cold weather. We have a couple beginners so happy to hear your GF liked the trails. That's honestly a great thing for this group.

Defo stop by at the ptit caribou! Personally I stop by Fat mardis sometimes for lunch they got good food and good service.

trail wise, unless theirs pow I mostly just lap the south side park with my friends, but the edge during pow is def worth the wait.

from what it sounds Im gonna assume you booked a hotel on the south side! If it’s not the case try getting to the parking early as it tends to fill up fast !

I envy you, having that many people cohesively going on a ski trip and all be friends must be hard to plan logistically. Good for you! Hopefully you get a few pow days in. Enjoy!

The edge chair is slow. I wouldn’t ride it if it’s -20c

if you wanna avoid line ups at the gondy in the morning, you can park at the North side and go up expo then Lowell Thomas. Just be weary that traffic can be pretty bad to the south at the end of the day.

in the morning I used to hot lap TGV and the medium small park at the top until crowds at the base disperse and show up at tgv. Also zig zag and vertige are pretty good steep moguls. They can be icy depending on weather prior. Once there’s line ups I head over to edge. Only opens at 10 anyways.

then head down to expo, do the trees left of dynamite. There’s a cool waterfall that freezes up.

For lunch I loved to go to the refuge on the versant du soleil. The trees above it are great, brass camaraderie.There’s glade run that’s elusive and requires a short uphill, but it’s worth it. I think it’s les blouseux or something like that.


there are some secret hidden trees too.

From the summit go towards cbc but keep right. You’ll find a bunch of people touring up. Keep following that, then drop down over versant du soleil. You can ski a steep gladed birch Forrest and then drop a small cliff to get back.

also from the summit, head towards the west. There’s a touring track called Sasquatch. Good ski lines on either side of it. Guaranteed fresh snow since it’s by the easiest way down and beginners tend not to veer off trail.

from flying mile chair go down into the park. Then cut right into the trees. Another touring track called caps. You can ski down the skiers right side of it. Some cliffs to be hit.

Cross the border as early as possible both ways. Line can get long depending on when you go. I've had friends held up 2 hours before. Its typically much worse on the way into the US. Canadian legal limit is one handle of hard alcohol or 24 beverages you can cross the border with (check to make sure). Beer etc is expensive so I suggest you take advantage of this and get gas before your within 10mi of the border headed in. If you gonna cook meat/chicken prices are insane there bring your own. Eating out is actually not bad at all considering the us to cad conversion.

For skiing, when its busy the Le Soleil lift is usually empty and offers fast long laps. twisty runs and lots of whales and rollers for tricks and surfing. Park on the North side if you aren't staying with lift access on the south side. The north side lot is legit on the snow so if your there within 30min after opening you can honestly click in at your car pretty much. Only lot on south side that doesn't require walking or multiple lifts fills immediately and you have to pay 20cad for the lot next to it. There's also no lodge really on south side and the north at least has one where you can leave stuff and boot up if its cold. Get your gondi laps in during the morning on weekends cause it gets busy fast.

If u or any of ur boys Zyn make sure to bring enough to last up there cuz ur not gonna find em or anything like it once ur over the border

tremblant is great on a pow day but the park is hit or miss
