Heritage Lab Skis?

We need roofbox @Twig to review something from them, and not their Hellbent clone.
Their skis are stiff asl and either full rocker or full camber which is crazy in this day and age.
Unapologetic AF, which is what we need more of in this industry.

I have quite a few Heritage Lab skis in my garage. What HL is doing now in the ski industry is unique, no other manufacturer is making as many niche skis with such high quality and standards. Most kids here will not appreciate the depth and range of skis offered. All the carbon touring skis are as damp as they can be but also extremely competitive weight wise. The inbounds ski shapes are dialed and durable. I can say with confidence, if you see a ski you like: order it and you’ll not be disappointed. moment drops unique and niche designs every year with their reserve lines, and they’re doing it here with made in the USA handmade skis at extremely high quality.

I know you’re the biggest Moment fan boi in existence but what Moment is doing is nothing like Heritage Labs. You don’t even own a pair, so what do you know about HL directly? I own Moment skis currently, yes what Luke is doing is great…handmade in America skis. That is what makes Moment unique.

Marshal is on a different path. The durability is unrivaled on HL skis, the mounting plate underfoot is the stoutest in the industry. I have personally experienced the difference. He is making skis for the skier that knows he wants something better and unique.

He didn't say HL is the only company making niche skis, he said nobody is doing it exactly like HL, which is pretty accurate. What other company is making full rocker freeride skis or flat camber skis or Hellbent reissues?

Correct I am a moment fan. Just as you're clearly the biggest HL fanboi. No i dont own them but I have handled 3 pairs now. R99’s a bc90 and an hb22. They’re really nice skis. That’s why I said what he’s doing is really cool. Was the quality better than a moment or an on3p? No it wasn’t. It was on par. My post wasn’t about one being better than the other.



Can’t speak on long term durability but nothing I saw or felt made them more durable than the others mentioned, hes using outside factories that use the same building techniques as the others mentioned. That doesn’t make them more or less durable, it literally makes them on par with the other skis being made in the same factories.

one downfall to HL currently is the fact he’s having to rely on other outside factories to produce the skis which is why he typically needs minimum pre orders to make a ski even happen or why he needs a minimum group buy to add a requested size. He can’t just walk out to the factory and produce a batch of whatever he wants on the spot. That’s not a knock just a fact of his business model which I get works for him currently.

part of marshals thing is brining by back older styles that have already been done like the HB22 but brining it up to date, with newer production runs, I wouldnt call that unique. It’s cool no doubt.

Wasn’t making this about who’s better, was simply pointing out that what he’s doing isn’t unique to only HL. I get you spent your money on them so they “have to be the best”. Already posted the HL thread for the ski the OP was asking about where he could bet more info.

Moment literally makes the meridian which is a full rocker freeride ski, but like I said I’m not trying to make it a who’s better thing as I’m not saying one’s better than the other. Re issuing someone else’s design is not unique in any sense of the word. Not even close. Is it cool that he brought back the design. Absolutely. Which is why I said he’s doing cool
things. It’s just not unique. Thats all.

i never once said anything bad about HL. I just pointed out the fact that there’s others doing unique and niche skis. Sorry you got butt hurt by that. I’m not just bloviating my opinion or saying “kids here can’t appreciate them”.

I have a few HLs, and I can attest that they are very durable and well-made.

They are unique, and the shapes cater to a smaller crowd, but if you take a chance on a shape that looks like you'd vibe with, I doubt you'd be unhappy. Marshal would take care of you if you didn't love the ski.

What attracted you to the shape? What about the ski really drives it home for you?

I think what really drives it home for me the the dampness of the skis. The materials and weight just provide an incredible suspension. Very much like ON3P which is the brand that makes up the most of my quiver. I do really jive with bamboo. The R shape for me is a lot of fun with its flat underfoot and gradual rocker its loose when I need it but holds an edge much better than one would expect. My 187 110 comes in at 2375g and does an amazing job of muting out rough snow. They love to go fast but can be dialed back. I was on a countach 110 for the first half of the season but once I got on the R I knew it wasn’t going to last. Almost 200g heavier with a touch softer flex it was just as easy to ski but has a better suspension and top end.
