Ice Coast skis for College

Looking for a pair of new skis for college, currently going to college in Maine so I need something that can preform in ice but is also fun thru trees and moguls and occasionally park. currently looking at the 4frnt switch and the liberty origin 96, anyone have any thoughts on those and/or other recommendations?

I got a pair of line chronics for last szn and they shred especially in ice coast conditions, but they are heavy as fuck, making trees a little awkward and their durability is horrendous so far.

Look at on3p Jeff 92 they can also make a 96. The 92 comes with the ripper which is perfect for icy days

If you drop off the trees part, a slalom race ski on firm groomers is almost as good an experience as a full reverse ski is in untracked!

fatypus l-toros got me through last season beautifully, also considered the m-5s but if park is your goal the l-toros would probably work better

Libertys are great skis. But lately i been recommending Nomads for east coast heads that wanna do it all. Icelantic is just killin the game rn

would buying squires be a bad idea? pretty sure I'm gonna grab woodsman 92s at this point, I could throw griffons on them but found squires on evo for 129.99, heard they dont have great elasticity but are pretty light, would they be good enough for trees/on piste skiing?

If you're worried about weight get strives, best inexpensive binding are attacks, only ski Squires if you are sub-90lbs or an intermediate skier.

Hell yeah bro I went to Colby, IMO for the loaf you want a big, stable ski. The boys are skiing kings and tote down to the park fucking fast, you don’t want to be caught on some wimpy bendy skis. ON3Ps are a safe bet for stability but I would also consider skis from brands that have some more camber cause it’s gonna be icy as fuck most of the time. Just make sure they’re good for skiing fast.

def come check out black mountain of Maine in rumford if you like skiing trees, I think the trees kinda suck at loaf cause there’s hardly any hardwood forest other than broccoli gardens. BMoM is all hardwood with booters everywhere and fresh tracks days and days after storms. Shoot me a message and I will show you around!

I think the 4frnts would be a good choice they make a nice beefy ski, but I have the woodsman 96 and they are kinda the perfect east coat tree ski ngl

ON3P has a sale on customs rn where I can get the custom woodsmans 92s for the same price as the normal woodsman 92s (so basically the normal 92 with whatever topsheet I want) and I'm really tempted to snag them, I think they'd work perfectly and the option to do customs for no additional price is pretty sweet. What do you think?

I'm excited to try sugarloaf, my only experience is about 2-3 weeks out west every year and then midwest skiing since thats where I'm from. I grabbed the sugarloaf season pass, so I'll probably stick there this year but I'll keep black mountain of maine on my radar, thanks for the tip! I'll let you know if I have any questions I'm pretty psyched for the season

Yeah dude those woodsmans will be dope for sure can’t go wrong with on3p. I find the durability of the bases is very useful for east coast tree skiing I still have 0 core shots in my woodsmans after like 4 seasons. Loaf pass is def the way to go everyone at Colby rides there but don’t sleep on the smaller hills like titcomb, spruce (rope tow park), and BMoM, great spots to meet people from other schools titcomb especially always has a sick crew of UMF kids

I just found griffons for 160, I figured it’s probably worth spending the extra 30 and getting griffons. I’ve had griffons on my other skis for about a year or 2 and love them
