I know this is the most like lukewarm take on this platform but I still wanna rant. My first skis were Line, I’ve spend a decent amount of time on Line skis, so when the website is updated and the new 2024/2025 skis are posted and every price of every ski is increased by a decent amount $100-$150 cad is ridiculous. I think my biggest issue is the fact that the skis all say “Redesigned” which is just a blatant lie, like unless you count a new top sheet as a redesign it’s just bs. I actually enjoyed most of my Line skis, the durability was probably the worst I’ve had, but for enjoyment they were awesome. I personally think line should reduce prices even further and just say “look are skis are shit quality but they will be super fun for a season or two” and if they did that and like I said reduced the price by like $250 I think they would see much more success. Anyways that’s my rant over, thanks for reading. Lmk if I’m a tone deaf idiot or not
for real, just buy last year's model. as you said, they didn't change anything, just topsheet. so i bought 23 line chronics at the beginning of last season for like 150 dollars or more off what they were asking for the 24 models. this probably applies to all ski brands.

You are 100% correct but just for maybe newer skiers who don’t know any better or where to look, will definitely get ripped off. And yeah everything is more expensive now, but I was kinda hoping skis wouldn’t follow this trend, because like I asked you not to.

Material price is up across the board. Most brands are having a slight price increase. Moments doing the same.
I don’t buy skis for any reason other than to support a specific brand and their team and Line is a sick brand despite a few minor goofy moves.
The exaggerated marketing is pretty standard ski brand practice tho tbh. The technology amongst all brands is very similar but they give everything a unique name like “surf zone” or some bullshit to give it the illusion of being different. People bitch about Line durability (and it is bad) but if you were to take Vishnu, Faction, Jet, etc. durability on their non-defective skis i’ll bet its all pretty close. Even my ON3P’s, which have the best durability by far, got thrashed after 2 szns. They are far more durable on paper, but the only real benefit of durability is that they wont delam or snap. Edge damage is edge damage. So ya Line is pretty goated imo
Not arguing that brotha, they’ve changed the game for sure, and I appreciate all the support for smaller skiers too, ik lots of guys who ride line skis for free and I’m glad line does this. Not hating on Line just a bit of frustration.

Call me whatever you want but I have never had an issue with durability on Line skis. I've seen the typical offenders break (T-Walls) but out of the pair of OG Afterbangs, second gen Traveling Circus, and two pairs of Blends, I have never experienced anything more than top sheet chipping.
I don't think any ski is worth its cost these days but I don't get why anybody wouldn't wait for a sale to get Lines ~$150 off and enjoy a fun ski for a while. And if you feel the need to respond to this saying im retarded and lines suck then don't buy them and spend twice as much on ON3Ps

Chose to say nothing but facts 💯. I’m currently using last seasons hb and they’re a super fun ski to progress with. I haven’t had any major durability issues yet with only signs of wear and tear being a few chips in the top sheet but that’s bound to happen.

Yeah as I said I’ve had lots of fun on my line skis probably the most fun but my blends broke after two days on hill and were detuned as well. And my twalls got nuked and my chronics as well. But again that’s just personal experience and I have unfortunately not had a good one. It is also annoying with the whole warranty thing. And not replacing a single one, and just telling me it’s like my fault essentially.

You seem to be skipping over the factual real reason that materials are up across the board. Call any ski company or any company for that matter and ask if they’re paying more for this years materials than last. They are. Period.
Of course that’s not the only reason but to act like skis are up just because they’re trying to make more money is just factually wrong.

Well no company ever does that. Materials go up and that gets pushed onto the consumers. Profits are part of the game. Businesses have a right to make a profit. $100 raise on a ski isn’t that crazy.

It’s not but I would just like a sport I love to accessible and affordable. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. I would also be okay with the price increase if I knew it say funded movies or athletes and events but I’m willing to bet it doesn’t

Well as pointed out you can easily get access to past seasons skis at high discounts. So you DO have access to the sport for affordable skis. If you want the newest latest then yes you’ll have to pay more. Or wait till next season when this seasons stuff is onsale.

It would be, made a pair of skis like that 5 years ago and they are still going strong. To be fair never skied park on them, but going to start making snowboards with the same method this season.

Whats happening right now is called Pass-Through, where a business adjusts the price of their output (product) to reflect a change to their inputs (materials, labor, etc.). In cases of inelastic demand, basically any product that consumers HAVE to buy, 100% of the input change will pass through to the consumer. That's called Full Pass-Through and it really only exists in theory because there aren't any perfectly inelastic markets.
Ski prices are an elastic market where consumers are especially cost-sensitive so manufacturers cannot pass-through the whole cost or it would cause "Cost Shock" and drastically reduce demand. The effects of intermediate Pass-Through on the consumer depend on the supply curve. If manufacturers were to make more skis than usual this year, the per unit cost will go down so they can be sold for closer to historical prices. In that example, the manufacturer would be absorbing some of the Cost Shock. If manufacturers produce fewer skis this year, per unit cost will rise with the consumer absorbing more of the Cost Shock at retail.
Price changes like this aren't tied to profit margins; they're tied to input costs and the trajectory of the supply curve.
eheathMaybe you don't buy anything but skis, but prices of everything has increased 20-40% in the last few years.
Sales are also so slow because no one has money right now. The company I currently work for has been having their lowest sales in 70 years. Every company is raising prices so that they can make ends meet with the shitty supply chain and other issues in the recreational industry at the moment.
marketing is the only ways recreation companies can find solutions to make sales, so that is why most ski and outdoor brands say all that crazy stuff.
if you want cheaper skis buy used or find leftovers for a few hundred off sold by companies like evo and such.

You clearly don't support yourself financially because understanding that prices have gone up (inflation) doesn't come from the internet, it's all around us. Ask your mom how much her weekly spend on groceries has gone up in the last 4 years.
Some people out there are having serious problems with this inflation and some people (like Skierman) have had to seriously cut back on their expenses, which means a lower quality of life. This lower quality of life is frustrating when a lot of companies are having record years and people are being told that the economy is doing well.
The simple fact is we aren't sorry because inflation isn't just happening in the ski industry, it's happening globally.
