VTshredder69I rather just see people shutup and continue their lives. Doesn't matter who is the president.
eheathyou and me both know if trump loses that all of his dumbass followers are going to go apeshit.
VTshredder69Trump about to lose.
eheathgonna be hilarious when a bunch of hillbillies come out of the woodwork, try to cancel election certifications and protest that the election was rigged and unfair. Cant wait.
SteezyYeeteryou're a clown if you think people pushing for no voter ID or ID at all aren't trying to cheat. no beef type shit I'm just saying.
LonelySteezyyeeter's posts are a great argument for restricting voting rights behind a competency test. I'm against competency tests but man...it's compelling.
SteezyYeeterim not against competency tests at all. not sure why you think I wouldn't pass one lol. also not sure why you trust politicians, you're a fucking retard (incoming mod power complex)

Michigan_SucksI mean.....needing an ID to vote is common sense.

LonelyGiven the Selzer poll and what some rogue cameramen have been showing (uncharacteristically low turn out at his rallies), it seems that things are looking that way.
Haven't talked much about the election, but I've got some thoughts that nobody asked for. I'll try to keep it observational.
-What's both surprising and not surprising is Trump's slide backward in the past 10 days. Trump didn't really do or say anything that is outside of the norm for Trump. What happened was that people around him said stupid things, and his campaign made some stupid decisions. I'm not going to pearl clutch over Tony's joke, but damn that is not the sort of shit a campaign (That is doing historically well with the Hispanic vote) should be clearing a week or so before an election. But Trump can't get the people who don't make those mistakes, because he's either fired or talked shit about all but those most loyal to him, and has distanced the people that would be good for his campaign as such.
-Trump is all about energy, and homie has not had a lot of it lately. I can't blame the guy. He's old, occasionally getting shot at, and facing prison time. If Trump doesn't have the energy and/or the scandal of the week to talk about it's just hours of ranting and I think that for some of his supporters that's getting old. It's not likely that those folks will vote for Kamala, but it may be more likely that they vote independent or not at all. In an election this close you can't afford that.
-Kamala's campaign has lost a lot of energy since the presidential debate win, and Vance definitely beat out Walz in the VP debate, but damn if it is not death by a thousand cut's for trump with the endorsements Kamala is getting. There is some popular figure almost daily endorsing Kamala and the only thing that stuck out recently for Trump was Logan fucking Paul. Another controversial figure.
On top of this Trump is facing all of these Non-Endorsements as well. These are folks that aren't endorsing Trump that would normally be endorsing a conservative presidential candidate. I don't think it's silly that some previous Trump voters could be pushed away by the fact that very few from his term in office are endorsing him. Pence talks shit about him, so does Milley and Mattis and many other big republican names. Trump is much better at making enemies than he is at making friends, and that's coming home to roost. No single endorsement means that much, but they do add up.
-The Musk money was helpful, but the Musk cringe factor may have been unhelpful. When it comes to Musk, Vance, and many of those surrounding Trump they just don't have the inherent charisma that Trump has, and can sometimes be more detrimental to the public face of the Trump campaign.
This isn't really meant to convince anybody, just kinda my take on what's been going on in this last month of the campaign. I'll take one dig at Trump and just say that this is a crisis of his own making.
SlushSeasonYeah. Every other country does it, but somehow it's racist to require an ID for anything in the US
TOAST.Voter IDs would definitely keep some citizens from voting. For example my dumb ass forgot my license was expiring this past weekend. I remembered on Thursday but I just can't walk into the DMV and walk out the same day with a new license. I had to send a form in and wait for them to mail back a card that will then allow me to go renew my license, usually takes 10-15 days to get. Luckily my job is flexible so when I do get the card I can go in whenever and renew it. A lot of people don't work jobs with flexible schedules that would allow them to get to the DMV during their normal hours or can't afford to miss work to go get one. If you live in a city and don't drive this is even less of a priority.
Also if you grew up in an unstable household you might not even have access to the documents to get an ID to begin with, which makes the whole process even more difficult.
I'm not against voter IDs if they will shut everyone the fuck up about voter fraud, but it will 100% keep some citizens from voting especially if processes to get IDs aren't improved.

VTshredder69Solid political analysis.
qazwsxedc34The Musk cringe factor. Yeah, that will totally sway electors' vote.

hb_lazgotta remember that this goes both ways
hb_lazgotta remember that this goes both ways
eheathYeah dumbasses gonna do dumbass things, seems like the dumbasses would do less if trump wins.
LonelyI'm against competency tests because I don't trust politicians to take a right and mess with it. You'd understand that if you could pass a constitutional competency test. Wouldn't you be the one trusting whatever politicians are in power to write the competency test? What if it was a bunch of leftists in power? I wouldn't want that to happen to one of my rights. I wouldn't want them creating the test.
I get it, it's a complicated concept. And that's why I will defend your right to vote even if you couldn't pass the test. I value all Americans, not just the ones who agree with me, or the ones who are of average or higher iq

hb_lazall I'm saying is that no matter what the outcome of the election is, there is going to be a vast population of the country that will be upset. I'm not saying that one side will be more upset than the other, but I know for sure that if Trump were to win, people who voted Democratic aren't going to just be singing kumbaya, nor is that the case for if Kamala were to win. just there is a reason why this country is so divided, and a large cause for it is people only seeing the completely unreasonable reactions, which just isn't how most people react. but no matter what, the side that loses isn't going to be happy about the outcome.

VTshredder69Groundbreaking take right here. You've really opened my mind.
hb_laznot tryna open anyone's mind. just trying to clarify what I meant when I said that It goes both ways. read maybe?
eheathhis point is that your take was bad and didn't really make any sense.
when trump won, people prostest peacefully across the country (world really) for womens rights.
when trump lost, his ultra maga dumbass brainwashed band of hillbillies tried to overturn the election by storming the capitol during a procedural process of certifying the election. not to mention all of the other illegal/dumb shit that happened post election and the fact that there is a large amount of people who still think it was a stolen election... it doesnt really end with these dumbasses.
you tell me who is really the problem, i'll wait.

BallClapperRe-name this thread to "politics"
hb_laznot saying that they are both equal. One side is inherently worse at dealing with the truth. it's pretty obvious what side ur on, but I never said to whom I support, u kinda just assumed that I'm a trump supporter. nothing I have said has made any side look worse or better, just playing devil's advocate.
BallClapperRe-name this thread to "politics"
eheaththat is what this thread is about, where have you been?
hb_lazhes saying that the thread has shifted from talking about trump being shot to just politics in general, so it makes sense to change it

GSRPlaying devil's advocate @eheath - it's a well-known fact that your government used lies as a pretence to invade the Middle East. If the baseline is that the government will lie in order to achieve a foreign policy agenda, why would you assume that elements of the government didn't do some trickery to get the "preferred" candidate (Biden) into office?

snowfinderLet me guess 911 was an inside job too, right?
GSRDon't muddy the question up, cheers.
eheathlol ya dude the dems are definitely going to cause a ruckus XD

snowfinderim not you're the one tossing out tin foil hat talking points.
GSRThere was literally a movie called “Official Secrets” about this. Show your smooth brain to the door.

GSRI think both candidates are a bunch a baloney. I'm still salty about Bernie getting shafted by Dems. He would have actually made your country better.
