KalmarJalmarHe didn't get the message that the most important asset in life is your skis. The key to happiness
Funny thing is he will never be anything in whatever his career choice is, he will never have enough money to be free, he might have a girl for a while, but he will never have any remarkable assets either.
Update me on this in 50 years
fabbeUr such a gooner, why u prayin on his downfall even if he drinks piss n stuff
SupremeChairliftWarren Miller did this and set generations of great people free. Free to be who they wanna be. He’s dead n they’re still jerkin him for it.
Besides, this dudes clearly having the worst transition to Old Head of all time and we shouldn’t entertain it anymore.
BLandzIdk man, I understand what he’s saying but some of the chillest/cool dudes I know are ski bums hahaha. If thats what truly makes you happy and you’re a good dude I don’t see a problem with it, as long as you aren’t delusional and be a bum to avoid responsibility
KilaTsunamiI’m so jealous of some of my ski bum friends. My homie has the star link and can work remote anywhere. He got like 200 days this year!
BradFiAusNzCoCaYou either stay a ski bum and live the life broke.
Or you can get a career and spend your whole life trying to put yourself in a position to live like you did as a ski bum.
Pick your poison.

1spliff2guinniesWhat kind of work is he doing?
theabortionator"I got into the ski industry to ski more. I got out of the ski industry to ski more"
weatcoastagreed. it's wild how many people will sacrifice an education, their future, and a well paying career just to ski for a few years in their 20's.
PoikenzYes, because everyone has the opportunity to be more than a lower or even middle class citizen. The reality is that the majority of the population doesn't have the connections, intelligence, luck, or the privilege to be anything more than middle class. In the US the lower and middle class make up 79% of the population, so why bother putting in the effort and dedicating yourself to the grind when it won't materialize into anything?
To the original post, I feel that being a ski bum is extremely trendy and resonates with the rich young folk to the point that most "bums" I see or meet are actually fairly well off and any real bums are being pushed out of the scene as the trend causes aspects of the ski bums lifestyle to skyrocket to unaffordable prices for those trying to live off a lower income.
hi_vis360Dudes who work construction all summer to stack street clips all winter are BUMS and SOYBOYS
REAL MEN sit behind a desk in an air conditioned office and invest in NFTs and DOGECOIN
weatcoasti disagree just because if you go this route youre changing that opportunity from a 5% chance to 0%.
and unless you just hate your life , i don't think its worth it work hourly jobs until you're 80 years old because you chose to ski 150+ days a year in your 20's
because the alternative is ski just 50-60 days a year and have the insurance and benefits of a 401k retirement fund and building a well paying career.
people like this are literally the 70 year old guys you see working at walmart because they can't retire. its not worth it
PoikenzNiether of us are in a position to dictate what is or isn't worth it in life to a complete stranger, let alone an elder.
I think your viewpoint is a little nieve. You assume too much and too little of people at the same time.
Being specific, how many elderly ski bums are out there that wish they could take it all back? Just because you value a monetary safety net doesn't mean that everyone else should or does. And again, for those wanting that safety net, the option isn't there for all of them regardless of how hard they work (I know it's a difficult concept to grasp, but if you just work a bit harder I'm sure you'll figure it out).
weatcoastnah L take. this just screams lazy and non-ambitious. i guess some people (you) are ok with that.
weatcoastkeep trying to justify your blue collar work, bud. it's literally proven by statistics that white collar jobs make more money.

hi_vis360Without blue collar workers you wouldn’t have a house to live in or food to eat
Farmville420Blue collar work isn't only essential but in todays economy pays better than a ton of white collar jobs lol. My finance friends are all moving back in with their parents because they're either out of work or can't afford to live on their own, my blue collar friends are looking at buying houses.
bustedpivotTalm'bout them illegal immigrants b.

chumbawumbaDisrespecting the trades / service industry is the most entitled little summer ski camp prick shit I’ve seen on this website.
Money isn’t everything hot shot. I know more depressed rich folk finance dudes than I do blue collar electricians. Working in an office with cornballs fucking sucks
not to mention 90% of kids I went to high school with who went to get bachelors degrees in business or whatever the fuck are baristas/waiters. Again nothing wrong with being a waiter, just saying if u think a degree is gonna guarantee success ur wrong.
meanwhile all my trades homies are buying houses in their mid/late 20s, going on month long vacations every year. And 75% of them enjoy their jobs quite a bit
the amount of debt u assume from a college degree can penalize u for life. Ur probably not aware of this based on the ignorant ass comment u just made, I’m assuming ur parents pay ur tuition/bills.
im saying this as someone with a college degree btw, not knocking school at all, but just like anything in this world, what’s right for you might not always be what’s right for the next guy. Making more money does not equal more fulfilling job. I didn’t start college til 23 and I’m glad because if I had started at 18 I would have got some bs degree I hated and would most likely be having a quarter life crisis like the rest of em.

weatcoast….so he’s allowed to disrespect white collar work but not the other way around?
