Its been a mess for a long time, but comprehensive immigration reform is not going to come from the President. Its going to come from congress.. and neither party really wants to touch the subject because its become such a hotbed of ridiculousness... Trump had the whole of congress controlled by the GOP and all they did was give a tax break to the 1%. They did nothing for improving immigration and their solutions were nothing besides "give a bunch of money to this stupid wall that wont work" (and no.. a wall will not fucking work to curb illegal immigration - most of which happens due to visa overstays) Whatever though.
I kinda don't give a shit about illegal immigration. It's never really negatively affected the main population, and given how agriculture doesn't carry a minimum wage, agricultural farms would be useless without it unless we change that status quo and a whole host of others. Nobody else is willing to work those jobs. If youre scared of immigrants taking your jobs, or causing crime, look at other Americans first lol.
2. Trump is definitely the one who threw gas on inflation far before the pandemic even happened. He pushed for YEARS to keep interest rates rock bottom in order to overcook the economical growth numbers, and keep the stock market and real estate markets which he is heavily invested in on overload.
If he was elected to a 2nd term, inflation was absolutely bound to happen - it was already being predicted in mid 2019 - and he would have just blamed everyone else for what happened. Truth be told, Biden was focused a lot more on other crises than the interest rate and took a very hands off approach to it. If you hate the Fed, thats very separate to the president as you stated...
Inflation has been a problem, but corporations have been price gouging for years to make up for it - leading to record profits. If inflation is so bad, how come theyre making an absolute killing out there and seeing such high growth numbers despite it? It doesnt add up... and there's nothing the president can really do about that without congressional action - something theyre also unwilling to do as they benefit from corporate profits on both sides of the table. Leaving most actual people scrambling...
Trump inherited an economy that had been reestablished under the Obama administration after it was destroyed by deregulation in the global financial crisis in the late aughts. He worked with Republicans to put it in perhaps the worst position imaginable for the majority of Americans when the Pandemic struck, and completely goofed up the response to it. Hell, Boris Johnson across the pond at least was halfway un-shit in that regard, even if he did have a stupid ass party at #10. Meanwhile, Trump completely bodged it in every way because he's useless in a crisis - where his only move when it comes to his own businesses is to hire all the lawyers and the declare bankruptcy... Not a good move.

Immigration isn't making the housing situation particularly worse overall - short-term rental investments, a lack of development, and a market that has been bought up by investment entities post-2010 is what have made housing unaffordable... (that and everyone wanting to move to the big cities with good transportation services and nobody wanting to move to shitty auto-dependant towns in Ohio or Indiana where houses are cheap). If you want to blame Immigration as the main culprit here, then youre moving it up from like 20th on the list just to satisfy either your xenophobia or to create your own confirmation bias.

The grows are destroying houses and undercutting legitimate growers.

I don’t think the voter ID thing is some sort of scheme to harvest illegitimate votes, I think it’s just a case of one side choosing the opposing take just to be contrary. Republicans support ID, therefore the dems must oppose it. It’s silly partisanship, I signed a voter ID petition when I voted in June after voting in the democrat primary lol. If people actually can’t get IDs, let’s fix that. a person that grew up in an unstable home or experienced homelessness is probably going to have a hard time getting an ID because there is a good chance that they dont have a copy of their birth certificate or other paperwork needed.
If we can make it easier and free for people to get IDs voter ID laws should be a no brainer, especially since confidence in our electoral process is so low.

I sort of agree. The US has always been a nation state corporation of immigrants. It was settled by Puritans, who were in many ways detested merchants, as well as Sephardic Jews expelled from Spain. Europeans came just after. The immigration quotas specifically targeted the brightest Europeans up until about the 1960s.
That said, turning out new loans and capital flow while maintaining low wages to increase profits is important to the ruling class.
It's much easier to exploit immigrants than it is 3rd plus generation Americans.
I know of a farming corporation that refused to hire white Americans, instead hiring a diversity of ethnic people, many who did not speak the same language in order to lower trust, effectively severing any chance of forming a union among themselves. The idea was that when there's any kind of ethnic solidarity or shared language/culture, there's higher trust, thus higher chance to form union and/or demand higher wages.

This is a huge issue I see in my career too. I've spent most of my time in education in classrooms for unaccompanied minors who are going through the asylum system due to with no or limited education due to unrest in their home country (usually war and ethnic cleansing for the kids from Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East; child labor, police corruption and the drug trade for kids from Central America) that are legitimate reasons for seeking asylum. However, once they're here they are beholden to the smugglers who assisted them on the last leg of the journey, usually after they'd already paid them every bit of cash they were carrying and raped if they were a woman crossing.
If you're going through the asylum process as an unaccompanied minor you end up being placed with a next of kin, most likely your uncle who migrated 20 years ago and you only know from a Western Union receipt and you have monthly court appearances and regular meetings with social workers as part of your asylum application. Unaccompanied minors, and asylum seekers as a whole, are inelegible for any federal benefits or employment during the processing of their claim which takes about 18 months all together. So you've got a bunch of 13-17 year olds who have to work under the table to survive because they're often expected to be a breadwinner in their new household and they owe a tendril of the crime syndicate that forced them to migrate in the first place $20k. And although you can't legally work school attendance is a requirement for your asylum case; most migrants settle in migrant communities because of the support systems their community has created so it's just a matter of time before the traffickers know where you've been placed (had a couple kids dropout in March every year at one school because of this, worked in one where they put our classrooms in the same building as the alternative program for gang members and it turns out MS13 kids are all rats) and then you're disappeared into the slave labor pool. You get picked up by the cops a couple years down the line and you're deported back to where you came from.
And the thing that burns the most is that both major parties are fine with this byzantine system because it's just cheap under the table labor for their donors.

Ehh history doesnt repeat but it really does rhyme. Trump is so set up to win that I think it’d be relatively hard for him to lose. The last time a president ran in an election, won, then lost, then ran again won and that Grover Cleveland for exactly the same issue we’re dealing with here. Love or hate trumps policies, the overarching argument right now is policy over morals. In 1892, the same arguments were made when comparing cleveland with benjamin harrison. Harrison had the moral high ground while cleveland had the policy high ground. I get that a lot of people today still dislike some of trumps policies, but with the average voter, hes still winning a majority of those up for discussion. Not to mention he keeps coming up with ideas… the only idea kamala has had so far was no tax on tips….which was a stolen idea from Trump!!! Just sucks that hes alienated the climate debate and this became even more apparent when his biggest current supporter and funder Elon Musk corrected him in their livestream. These past 10 or so years just go to cement how truly an experiment we are as a country. Our history shows it and its definitely not the first time presidential politics have been ugly either. The elections of 1824, 1860, 1876, 1968, and 2000 to name a few have also beeb relatively ugly. In fact the elections of 1824 and 1876 were stolen elections. While civility in our elections is a common desire, the theatrics and outlandish attempts at gaining power are all the more common. Heck one guy ruined his whole campaign as the nominee doing a photoshoot in a tank. Dukakis wasnt the first nor the last goof ball to make this attempt. Ever hear of Teddy Roosevelt. Anyways its going to be a bumpy ride and always has. As they say in the Hunger Games, may the odds be ever in your favor!
policy aside, it would be historically cool to see another non consecutive termed president as a viewer looking in at the clusterfuck that is the goal of obtaining the presidency but thats my opinion.

Policy aside, it would be historically cool to see the first female president, possibly even cooler and more historic than something that has already happened.

Yeah it would be, but it should be someone you back because you like them…not simply because you dont like the other guy for being that guy. Like the candidate because of what they stand for and whether or not they presented a powerful and impactful campaign. Kamala doesnt pass it in my book. Would love to see it too, but she is not the one.
