skiermanWhy the fuck is everyone trying to be Formula 1? Worst shit ever, its already ruined DH MTBing.
CRtrailingI hope this doesn’t make X Games ultra competitive
nCrowJib league was cool while it lasted
killa242I'm pretty sure thats the point. Make it more competitive and accessible to more people to push action sports in ways they haven't been pushed before.
skiermanYeah, Formula 1 is known best for is accessibility, you fucking idiot.
Farmville420This has 0 effect on jib league tbh

JalmarKalmarThis show won't have the soul that JibLeague has.
EvancantspinI wanna hear your thoughts on this I’m not sure I get it completely.
killa242Wait now I'm confused, Formula 1 is now apart of X games?

BmxyyThis is obviously X-Games' way of saying they need more ways to get companies to sponsor their events to pay for stuff. There will probably be like a Redbull team, etc.
GrandThingsI like that they're shaking things up/trying something new, and the idea here seems really cool but I'm still unclear on the logistics of creating these "teams". I'm confused who will be managing/funding/selecting the athletes?
Until this is big enough to pick up corpo sponsors (which I doubt it will), I feel like it'll just be Team Redbull, Team Monster, Team Rockstar, which is essentially what we already have?
They mentioned there will be an annual draft, but Team Redbull is never going to draft a Monster athlete, so I'm confused how this will really be a 'team' within a league like the NBA or the NFL, vs. Formula 1 where everyone on that "team" shares the same sponsor?
Farmville420I'm betting the mortgage on Nick Goepper winning it all for team Mountain Dew
GrandThingsTeam Mountain Dew getting dangerously close to the salary cap with their max contract players Paul Rodriguez and Danny Davis. What will they do this offseason?!
Farmville420This has 0 effect on jib league tbh
weastcoatCould be if they hold their events at same dates n such.
iangBut this whole teams things has a lot of potential. Teams are a big part of the draw for mainstream sports, as viewers can attach themselves to a team of choice. When they win, you're stoked. When they lose, you're bummed. There's stakes for viewers, and stakes make things exciting.
brandohWe also got a snow league from Shaun White today:
