But it was outside the statute of limitations, so they changed the law to extend the statute of limitations
It was also only a misdemeanor crime. So they pushed through the idea that his crime must have been facilitating another crime (which they would not name) to make it a felony
I've never voted for Trump, but he's absolutely right when he says the case was rigged. No matter what the laws said, the state of NY was going to find a way to make him a felon. This was clearly a politically motivated attack to tie him up in NY and prevent him from campaigning
CaseyThe media across the board did an exceptionally poor job of explaining what the crime is. They all just call it the hush money trial and it’s like well NDA’s aren’t illegal on their own.
The other thing that needs to be said is Trump is literally the worst defendant ever. The guy cannot keep his mouth shut. He’s held in contempt for not shutting the fuck up about it over and over and over again, he shits on the judge, he threatens the jury, he intimidates witnesses it’s a complete fucking shit show to represent this guy he does himself no favors
