stokedelicif i gave a vibe of “rollerbladers are stupid”, that’s not what i intended. my issue is with people who stand in bad spots/snake and aren’t receptive to advice. same goes for on mountain.
i think the whole “rollerblading is gay” stigma is over exaggerated. as a rollerblader in my youth the shit i got was pretty minimal.
really i think main factor came down to skateboards not being attached to your feet. think of the amount of tricks you can do with a skateboard in an empty garage vs rollerblades. my guess is people with rollerblades ran out of the equipment/obstacles they needed to “progress”, but people with skateboards had enough to keep going even on rainy days (Jamie Griffin grew up on a Scottish farm or some shit lol).
and tbh, i wouldn’t watch rollerblading if it were vert centric like in the 90s. thank god for people like Them Skates and okboston (Taylor’s a homie and the reason i started blading).
