Replying to Banff/Revy heads, roast my summer road trip
Planning 3 day road trip in the area mid July. Looking for a “someone who knows the area” perspective, never driven around up there.
Don’t tell me my plans are good, tell me why they’re stupid.
Day 1: Fernie > Radium Hot Springs. Find a campsite and do a small hike (4km ish). This is the only day I don’t have a site reserved, but it looks like Radium has a fair amount of free dispersed camping.
Day 2: 17km out and back hike from Aurora Creek trailhead to Marvel Pass. Maybe a touch heinous, but this was the “easiest” way I could find to see Assiniboine with my dog.
Mostly worried about weather here, so plan B is to drive route 93 north and continue on to Jasper.
Find a place to rinse off, end up at Two Jack Lake to camp.
Day 3: Recovery day and do the touristy shit. Lake Morraine and Lake Louise. My plan as of now is to drive and park, but I’m doing some shuttle research since I’m guessing it’ll be bumper to bumper up in there.
Maybe do a small hike again, but then have dinner/resupply in Banff and camp again at two jack. Bounce to Montana the next morning.
