Which trick(s) are you most afraid of?

the tricks that freak my out the most are:

1) switch tails. it just gets me every time. i way prefer switch lip to switch tails

2) backflip. i used to do them daily but years ago i got some weird pop off the lip and ate shit so hard. i haven't done a single one since

3) switch right takeoff. i'm good at skiing switch over either shoulder, so you'd think it would be no big deal, but it is. spinning right during forward takeoffs is no issue and switch left is no problem either, but switch right just feels wrong!

Backflip is easier than flatspin though and they both have basically the same risk. I’m trying to learn flatspins and rodeo 5s right now and I already have backflips. If I was you I would learn backies first.

True if you're doing flatspins that are more flippy, but when I do them I don't go straight over my head. So in a worst case scenario, backflip has a higher risk. I learned rodeos first, so my opinion is to learn whichever one you feel more confident trying

Yeah I agree about the confidence thing but a backflip is as basic a rotation as a regular 360, I know it’s been repeated a million times but doing a backflip is more about how much you commit rather than mechanics. Flatspins have a totally different set that is objectively harder to learn but yeah if you don’t feel comfortable going fully inverted then there’s nothing wrong with learning flat spin first.

Dude I totally relate to having the weirdest progression. I learned switch rode 5 first (super flippy, like sw 180 to backflip style), then backflips, then front flips, then switch back, then finally forward rodeo (but never got very comfy with those) and then misty. Never tried a switch fronty cause those are terrifying. Also never really committed to proper corked spins. Preferred the more inverted stuff for whatever reason. Now I’m old and don’t go upside down much

no way, flatspin is chill because your not going directly over your head. I would argue they are one of the easiest jump tricks

I was thinking since you're kind of on the side, worst case scenario you're breaking your shoulder and not your spine. but noted. tbf the only flips I really wanna do are misties and lincolns 😍

Confession: I have never gone inverted on skis. Couple accidental corks here and there but I am an upright spinner. I barely even hit jumps anymore tbh

as long as you're having fun, who gives a shit right? i haven't gone upside down in a couple years cause i just don't see the risk being worth it. on the flip side, i learned a few new rails tricks each of the last couple years, so there is always that.
to this day, the only place i've ever done a backflip is on skis. never on a tramp, into water, nothing haha

Fastslide is a hell of a commit. You need to get into balance, and if you dont go enough, it's just 2 feet. So to even get into it, you have to just lean forward and it feels very wrong. One little catch on the rail and you're face first (at least that's what it feels like).

Yeah you’re probably right I think committing to a backflip is probably easier than for a rodeo but it really depends. Lincoln in a half pipe is my dream trick at the moment so hopefully I can get those soon as well as rodeo 5s.

Nosebutter 270 on. Something about that trick I can’t get myself to commit to at all. That and rodeo 5, used to love em but got lost in the air once and got broke off. I shit bricks whenever I think about trying them now.

Blind 2 on or a rail switchup for rails. The chance of clipping the rail and smacking your teeth on the rail is so high. I never fucked myself up on it but its damn scary.

Backflips are scary, big backflips over big cliffs is level up on fear. Everything has to be perfect or serious injury will occur. Once everything is set and your flying through the air, skis over the head, and you see your landing in slowmo… iys the best feeling trick.

cork7 still scares me. Its such a complex set of movements, in a short amount of time. Seeing isnt easy as the whole world spins around you in a blur.

Butters are another set of tricks that scare me. Mostly because catching an edge could mean broken collar bone or dislocated shoulder with a side of head bang.

Do it on a bigger jump. It feels like a completely different trick and you feel like you have so much more time to be aware of what's going on and find your grab and landing

i get it conceptually but that is fuckin CRAZY to me dude

the worse part is a lot of normal people don't appreciate how much harder those spins are. i did a backy, then a sw misty 10 off a bridge last summer and my friends all agreed the backy was more impressive lol
