Why do ski jumpers wear race suits? One would think that baggier clothes would allow them to stay in the air longer.

I have been racing forever and ski jumping with my school for 3 years. The suits are completely different. GS suits are thin and made of flexible material. These are meant to be worn tight to be more aerodynamic. Jumping suits are much thicker and made with a foam layer as well. These are worn baggier but not too baggy as they let some air into the suit to allow more float.

Don't get me wrong, I ski park more I just grew up racing and did it for my high school.

Maybe störtlopp i dont know whats in english but offpiste is on another level. Normal slalom racing is not gnarly

aerodynamics might play the slimmest of roles in it, but i think it is more based off trying to be different, like everyone having their own unique zest-suite!! Also you can show off your girth if the suite is tight enough and ur half bricks
