OregonDeadwas literally just doing all kinds of research on base cleaner last week. I apparently skied through a bunch of grease/oil and had black gunk all over my bases. Most goop I have ever had on my ski bases ever. Ultimately I decided I was going to try a little diluted simple green or goo gone. Had a way too busy week and next thing I knew it was time to drive to the mountain. Ended up going back to my own old advice which is paper towels or in this case some paper napkins left in my truck from the taqueria. Oil loves paper towels. Way back in grade school we did experiments to get oil out of sand, hypothesizing what would be the best to clean the beaches after an oil spill, and my group had by far the best results with paper towels over anything any other group could come up with. ,
Managed to take 60% or more of the gunk off my bases with the napkins and then I went skiing. A few hours later my bases were cleaner than ever. I am thinking there is no way I would have gotten them as clean with elbow grease and base cleaner as I did with a few minutes with a napkin and a couple hours skiing
PartyBullshiitI’m looking to remove old wax and prep the base. No issues with oil or goo so don’t think just paper towels would do the trick for me unfortunately
hi_vis360Does it only come in vanilla or are there other flavors?
Chunderface@dolanslebensraum
maaatttIt works pretty good, I do prefer the citrus sent though because the vanilla smells like death.
You'll probably already do this but get a good scrap and solid amount of time with a brass brush first. You'll want to wax pretty quickly after getting the bases cleaned up, cuz that stuff will dry your shit out pretty quick
Some of mentioned hot scrape and that's the og old head ski move, works super good without side effects of chems drying your stuff out and the environmental yada yada nbd

Yukon_CorneliusHave also had better luck with goo gone than any “real” base cleaner
SofaKingSickare you guys skiing in industrial plants? what are you getting on your bases that's so hard to remove? i know it's a legit thing, that's why the product is used, but i treat my skis like shit and never get anything on the bases that's tough to remove
