Salomon Stance 80 vs Line Blade

Hello NS,

I'm trying to decide between those 2 skis, I know they are not really in the same category.

I live on the east coast, I'm looking for a ski that will be good in hard-packed snow and icy conditions.

I'm a playful skier and only skiied twin tips in my life and I'm looking for a carving ski to have fun on the mountain. I will often go off-piste and do trees and moguls and hit side jumps and do 180's and 360's.

I can buy the Salomon Stance 80 with bindings for 350$ CAD which is a really good deal.

The Line Blade without binding right now is on sale at 595$ CAD.

I'm worried the Salomon Stance might be too ''conventional'' for my type of skiing and I might have a hard time to have fun on it, but it would be better than the Blade for icy conditions and on-piste performance.

I think the blade would be a better fit for me, since I'm willing to sacrifice some precision for overall playfulness and fun.

If anybody owns any of those skis please let me know your opinion and how you like them.

I would say they are in the same category. There’s nothing particularly playful or interesting on the Blades besides the Line logo

Stance 80 doesn't have much of a tail. Doesn't mean skiing switch is impossible, but the first time you do a backward tomahawk, you're going to wish you had a twin tip.

Didn't look too far into the specs/construction of the Stance, but all the messaging surrounding it alludes that it's for beginner to intermediate skiers. Plus, if you're going off-piste frequently, something wider than 80mm underfoot would serve you better.

Fwiw, I haven't heard anyone describe the Blade as "playful" (by NS standards). Not saying it's not fun to ride, but think fast edge-to-edge/maneuverable/lively type of fun, not flexy/buttery/snappy.

Personal rec would be the Season Aero. I've been riding the Nexus (which is a pretty similar ski, just scaled up to 106 underfoot), and can't believe how nimble and quick it is edge to edge for the width. If I were still skiing the east (don't sue me), this would be something I'd consider for an all-mountain ski.

I got some legit carving skis this winter and they are so sick dude. Don’t get blades, they aren’t playful at all and are way slower edge to edge than real carving skis. Don’t be scared to go full dad mode. I rip side booters and ski trees on my carving skis no problem
