Help with Flat 3

Hey guys, this summer I learned flat 3 on tramp an thought I'd try to take it to snow yesterday? is the axis even right, I'm not really sure how to speed up my rotation.

hmm okay, i always grab japan on tramp but i guess I just didn't think about it

If you pulled your head and chest up at the end you woulda had it bro

you were looking at the same spot the whole time once inverted

Very solid attempt !

Ur kinda setting more of a rodeo tho, if u had more airtime u definitely would have taken that into a full rodeo 5.

if flat spin is ur goal I would definitely try grabbing high safety or Japan while setting ur rotation closer towards a backflip. Popping hard helps too. If u don’t wanna grab, try swinging ur trailing arm under ur hips

thanks all for the help, im honestly still confused about the difference between rodeo and flat, seems like there isnt a really distinct definition between the two, but overall is flat more or less inverted than rodeo?

Yeah it’s a little confusing. Technically flat is less inverted but rodeo and flatspin are often used interchangeably for rotations 540 and above. Feet shouldn’t go above the head for a true flat spin. For a 360, no one calls it rodeo 3. Most people call it flat 3 even if it’s more inverted. However, if a flat 3 is super backflippy then some people call it a wackflip.

You attempt was pretty good. The set was correct for the most part since your chest went up to the sky. It looks like maybe you needed more pop from your legs and less arm swing. Remember to keep looking over your left shoulder all the way to the landing. The way you sucked your knees in suddenly looked like it kinda stalled you out so try to just be a little more smooth with it. Way to send it. That’s the hardest part.

Huge congrats man makes me wanna send one. how much did you do on tramp before you were confident on snow? i dont really have a tramp but i wanna start doing more off axis stuff

I could do it completely on tramp before i took it to snow, Im sure you could learn only on snow, but make sure its into deep powder cause i took some heavy hits to my head trying it
